Helea Family Beach Resort

Honestly one of the worst Dining experiences of my life. Night after night. Slimey disgusting food - with flies over everything - especially the kids food. Everyone was saying the same thing. No sunbeds ALL WEEK - nothing. The beach area actually has around 10 family sunbeds for 2000 guests. The queues for breakfast were around 25/30 minutes and most days the will put the food away before you get a table. 9 ppl and we all said the same thing - SHOCKING. Photo is of stone cold OCTOPUS and mash - VILE oh and the a la carte only take 20ppl every 30 mins - they were fully booked when we got there.

We stayed at Ella Helea for 13 nights and we had an absolutely great stay. The staff work so hard and are always so lovely, always a smile on their faces. We had 4 a la carte restaurants during our stay and we really loved the Latin one and we went to the Greek restaurant for our last night. We read some negative reviews about it but they are not justified in my opinion. We had the best food and we were advised on a good wine to have. Our waiter Sinesio was absolutely great and we cant thank him enough for making our last meal here the best one. The room (Seaview, top floor L5)is modern, comfortable and cleaned everyday. We found the room quiet and could get good sleep, which is as much a reflection on the considerate guests and their families as much as the quality of the sound proofing. The mini fridge is refilled everyday and if forgotten, a quick ring to reception and someone is there given us what we need, again with a smile and happy to help. Guest services always helpful if you need anything and we booked 2 excursions with them (Lindos and Symi) and instructions are sent to you via WhatsApp. Everything was straight forward. Cocktails can be quite strong best place to get them is from the lobby bar. The atmosphere is very family oriented, with a great water park for children. The main pool is also great, even if we found the water a little cold, so might be worth consideration if you are staying early or late in the season. I liked the fact that staff was removing unsupervised towels in the morning before 9am, which meant that everyone can enjoy the facilities and not have to battle for a sunbed. Those people complaining about a lack of sunbeds are not accurate as we spoke with many people who went on excursions and returned at lunch time and could easily get enough sunbeds for their families. Around the main pool the bar plays chilled tunes which are subtle and fitting for a chilled hotel. The entertainment has been good but very much dance orientated. Best for girls under 10 years old. We were lucky to get the full moon beach party which was great which obviously only happened once a month. The animation team with the mini disco led by Maddie, Rachel and Amy with Dj Flo was always great fun! They made the holiday for our 5 years old daughter eith jewellery making, loom bands, play doh, painting, create your own postcards. We had an amazing time and we would definitely come back.

Sam at the Laerma restaurant was incredible - amazing food and service. He went above and beyond for us. Have never visited such a fantastic a la carte!

A fantastic experience all round. Staff were attentive, kind and helpful at all areas of the resort. Given it was August, the resort felt peaceful and not overcrowded. Food at the buffet and à la cartes were incredible, and drinks at the various bars were lovely. Hygiene is incredible in pools, beaches, rooms, toilets and food places. Would recommend to anyone.

Fabulous hotel, great food. Beautiful decor, great room with amazing stocked mini bar. Plenty beds at the beach, we had a swim up room with was more like a shared pool room 4009. Sun all day
