We stayed on balmoral drive in davenport, the villa itself is very beautifully laid out. The area is very quiet and we only heard people next door on a couple of occasions. The villa itself, we noticed after a few days that there were thick layers of dirt on some surfaces, especially in the kitchen area. I’m quite tall so could easily see how bad it was on top of the fridge freezer (which is quite low). The laundry facilities were perfect, but they do request that you only use a certain detergent, which is clearly outlined on the machines. Towels etc are whiter than white, the bedding was perfectly cleaned, on the whole the villa was laid out and tidy to perfection. We had two big issues, one was the pool and the other being the air conditioning. You cannot adjust the air conditioner and it is constantly set at 76. To me with this climate, was not cool enough. All the rooms have ceiling fans but they just circulate the heat. The pool is a nice shape and size, but sadly the filter wasn’t working properly. We were told it would come on between the hours of 7am and 7pm, but it wasn’t working for almost four days. It had dead worms, beetles and a layer of dead insects floating on the top. We called the office and were told somebody would come to check it the next day, but they didn’t come. We called again the following day and we were told exactly the same thing, but literally 2 minutes after we ended the call, the filter started working. An hour later, a pool guy came, he was blatantly not happy about coming and was really quite ignorant, he scooped all the bugs off, took a picture of the pool on his phone and just abruptly left. The pool has a light in it, but this wasn’t working, so be mindful of this if you have young children. The villa has a games room which we were going to be charged extra for, should we wish to use it. However, the games room is located in the garage and is easily accessible, so I don’t under stand why anybody would be charged to use something which is clearly free? The kitchen sink has a waste disposal unit in situ, this stopped working on a regular basis. We called the office only to be told it has a reset button on the base of the unit, in the cupboard underneath. There are two inflatable beds for the pool, we aren’t sure whether these were left by previous visitors or belonged to the homeowner, we did damage one so we replaced it straight away. The outside dustbins are collected on a Monday and a Friday, and they have to be taken to the side of the road the night before as they’re collected VERY early! Friday is recycling and Monday is general waste! On your first day staying at the villa, it doesn’t relay this in the properly handbook, but you really need to check there isn’t anything in the outside bins, because visitors tend to fill them and are unable to put them out due to vacating the villa before the Friday or the Monday! Both bins were absolutely full to the brim when we went to put our rubbish out! This villa was charged at around £1300 per person, which I find to be quite expensive considering! It’s not located in an area where you can walk to a local shop/store etc, We have booked to come back to Florida next year but we booked a villa which charges for the villa, not per person.
