Official Description

The hotel is located on the coast at the midst of luxurious tropical gardens. The complex affords its own white sandy beach that spans almost 1 km. The centre of Montego Bay is roughly a 15-minute drive away, whilst Ocho Rios is 1.5 hours away. This all-inclusive hotel comprises a total of 524 rooms and 26 suites as well as a garden and terrace. The facilities include a lobby with a 24-hour reception, a currency exchange facility and a hairdressing salon. Guests can take advantage of meeting rooms, an Internet connection and a laundry service. Moreover, a wide range of drink and dining facilities are also available. Enjoyed it - even with issues

We just returned from a week vacation at Catalonia Montego Bay. We stayed here previously when it was the Holiday Inn. There is some building work taking place, but no issues with that. On arrival, the reception staff - Natalia was very pleasant and we were checked in quickly, albeit our party of 5 were in 3 different buildings, which wasn't an issue. Our Bellman - Courtney was a very jovial and pleasant person as well. My room was pleasant enough but was surprised I only had 3 bottles of water in the fridge that leaked rather than even some soft drinks, considering the money that was paid for that particular room as a single person. Of our 3 rooms, 1 room had a full mini bar which was strange to say the least. There were issues with the key, so 5 times I had to do the half marathon down to reception to be let in my room. I know it's not their fault in relation to the key problem- however, it's how some of the staff dealt with the situation when I asked to be let in the room as the key did not work. I was told to speak to the customer service rep who then sent me back to reception. Of course, being the 5th time asking to be let into a room I paid for and then be fobbed off is unacceptable on all levels. Some of the staff did not care including a female night manager who went home rather than send the worker to fix it as was promised the previous evening. I was eventually let in my room on that day and was on my way out and got the shock of my life to find 2 maintenance workers croached outside the door. They said they were there to fix the lock on the door. I mentioned about them knocking to announce thenselves - the older man told me 'no we dont have to'. Therefore, reading some comments about staff attitude was very correct how lacking in manners and respect some were and then expect paying guests to give them respect. WiFi was very poor - non existent in 1 of our rooms and patchy in another. Would have been better to ask guests to pay and give us a good service. Now to the good points: 1. Hotel is being upgraded so I am sure it will look much better than it currently does. 2. Most staff were professional, courteous and just seem to enjoy their job. 3. Food from the Terrace, Japanese and Buffet were all good and tasty- just had to meet the chef who made the fry dumplins as these were amazing. 4. Hotel was clean. 5. While I didn't use it - the laundry was good. 6. Lots of parking spaces. 7. Good enough entertainment programme, but nothing seems to be happening in the onsite club when visited on 3 occasions. 8. Very close to the airport and centre of Montego Bay. 9. Right on the main road when you can get local transport into Montego Bay. 10. Not a cat person - but no issues with them. The hotel is billed as a 4*, however, I have rated it 3* with the potential to get to 4* once all the work is done and some remedial training for a few of the staff. Would I return? Probably Would I recommend to others? Yes, because my experience might not be the same for you.

The amenities are ok, but the staff was amazing. Especially the Kidz Club staff Ms.Elsa and Ms.Sarina, my son absolutely loved his time there. The kitchen staff was also very accommodating to my son’s needs..

Just okay, was hoping for more

We came here for a family trip and was so excited until we arrived. We got here early and there were no rooms available and was told we had to wait til check in, but check in came and went and our rooms still were not available. Once we finally got rooms, none of our keys worked despite being programmed and reprogrammed over and over again. The first 2 days we walked back and forth to the front desk so many times just to get let into our room. That alone makes me not want to return. As for the food, it was decent. The buffet had a good variety, didn't have much flavor, and there were stray cats everywhere where people were feeding them and they would just come up to you looking for food. I didn't like that. The restaurants were not great as well The Jamaican one, the oxtail was likely the worst I've had (I am Jamaican and was disappointed with the taste and texture and flavor). The Japanese restaurant was the best of all the restaurants we were able to attend. The Spa was lovely. Our couples massage was absolutely wonderful and they did a great job on my mom's massage as well. Our housekeeping did a fantastic job however we were a room of 4 and they would consistently only give us 2 washcloths prompting us to have to come and find someone to give us more. The phone often didn't get picked up at the front desk so I had to go searching. Wifi was awful. Anything that needed to be done had to be done in the lobby area. Wifi in the room was basically non existent. Alot of construction going on so many stairwell and elevators were not able to be used. The beach was nice, a little lacking in space but not bad, the pool was great and the bar and entertainment was wonderful. The staff was incredibly friendly, I enjoyed them. Overall there was too much lacking for me to justify returning to this resort. Maybe when the construction and restorations are complete, but not before.

Beware of the cats

This hotel is huge and has a lot of potential. Needs better entertainment. However. it’s way too many cats on property for me. You cannot enjoy the buffet because of all the cats. Checking in the hotel in the lobby is covered with cats. Went to eat at Belove cats were all on top of the tables.

Kids club ladies

It was a great experience. It was my son’s birthday and we were able to purchase a cake from the hotel and they decorated the room. My kids spent most of their time at Kids Club and the the ladies were awesome ( Pauline , Irene , Serena and Elsa) keeping them engaged with various activities, pool time , painting and even taking them to lunch. They even gave him a birthday present.
