Official Description

Welcome to PUERTO LIBRE HOTEL in Cozumel, where we take care of details and seek your well-being during your stay. Located in downtown, an area full of restaurants and boutiques, right in front of the sea, this hotel was built at the end of 2021, in the place where the first tourist hotel on the Island was built. Its name evokes the economic boom of Cozumel at the beginning of the 20th century when it was a Free Port in relation to taxes, when this property was acquired.

Double charged for our stay

We were double charged for our stay for, April 10-13. I booked and paid in full through Tripadvisor. I also never received an email confirmation from Trip Advisor for our stay. When we arrived, I told them that we had pre-paid through trip advisor and they said that they did not see the paid reservation and that it was only a hold through Tripadvisor. The person I was with then paid for our stay with his credit card. When I returned home, I checked my Credit card and saw that I was indeed charged for our stay. Trip advisor has been trying to call them all morning and have gotten no response.

Hotel is in a great location.

My fiance and I stayed here for only one night since our final destination was Playa Del Carmen but I would say the hotel was in a great location for us to walk to the restaurants, plaza area and the ferry. I was disappointed by the fact that I booked an ocean view but it felt more like a partial ocean view.

Perfect Carnaval spot, fantastic staff

This hotel is fantastic for Carnaval. The deluxe oceanfront room is so comfortable and opens up completely to the street below and the pool area outside. Equipped with a fridge so you can make your own drinks and sit comfortably on your balcony while watching the parades. I really love staying here. It feels like home to me, and Cozumel is so beautiful, and the front desk staff are the greatest people I have ever met at a hotel. They are so awesome. We will be back next year, if not before.

What a beautiful place!

This beautiful, newer & modern hotel exceeded our expectations. We cannot wait to return, hopefully next year. Super clean, wonderful & friendly staff, excellent location, nice balconies & the best location "roof top" pool on the bar level. 5 minute walk from ferry terminal and from restaurants, amazing cafes and a craft brewery. We would have loved to spend more time in evenings on the terrace enjoying drinks at the bar since it's open air and a beautiful view, but it is only open 8am-1pm (breakfast/brunch).

Location is the Key!

Location is the best! We stayed two weeks just got home on the 29th, the hotel is very clean and the staff was great. We used a cab twice while there, getting to the hotel and then leaving. You can walk anywhere you wait from the hotel, If you want coffee in your room and a view you need to pay for a Superior or Deluxe room(only 3 Deluxe rooms) The pool is SMALL and cold but the view is great! Only four sunning chairs, but we did not have any problem with that, got out around 10 and done by 2. The restaurant is with the pool area, opens at 7am and closes at 1pm. We have gone to Cozumel on and off for the past 15 years and stayed a many other hotels but we would stay here again(it is new and ran very well}.
