Went to this resort in May 2025. We paid for the premium upgrade, which in my opinion was not necessarily worth it. Resort was beautiful, but there is definitely some room for improvement. Premium upgrade - premium check in was not fast. It felt like it took forever and after coming off a flight, long waits through customs, we hoped to get to our rooms faster - we didn’t have a room in the premium block, not sure why. So we were far from most of the premium amenities. - concierge was nice to have but, we really didn’t feel like we got a ton from it. He took care of our reservations, but often the restaurants didn’t even have them so we got the run around a lot when we would show up for dinner which was pretty frustrating. - premium snack bar was decent. A nice place to enjoy some a/c and snacks when other things weren’t open. But again, quite far from everything. - premium bar on the beach was still under construction which was too bad. We used the tiki bars which was decent but because it was a small bar with just one bartender there was usually a line. Not awful, but in the heat it was not always great. - lots of people with different coloured wristbands in the premium area. Hard to know whether it was actually restricted to premium guests. They don’t check ever, and so there would be know way of knowing. - I wish they had drunk service on the beach or something for premium, just didn’t really feel the difference for the extra cost Beach - the beach was lovely - they had a breakwater which helped to dissipate the waves coming in and likely helped a bit with the seaweed as well - lots of seaweed but the hotel workers literally worked all day to keep the water and beaches clean. They did a great job. If you walked to the edges of the beach there would be a lot piled up and it was kind of stinky - shade was mostly available by trees. Only palapas were in the premium area. You had to move around a bit throughout the day to get shade but there was always shade to be found - vendors on the beach got a bit annoying to be honest. If you said no thank you they were quite good about moving on, it was just the sheer quantity of them. One after another after another. Definitely not the most relaxing thing. Buffet and A La Cartes - buffet was decent - service was very hit or miss. We often sat on the premium side, and sometimes we had to chase down water or coffee with breakfast. Service staff were not always attentive - food was so-so. It wasn’t awful but it wasn’t great. Through the week I figured out what was more reliable to eat - staff working the carving stations or pasta stations were often not around or just genuinely seemed like they didn’t really want to help you - a la cartes were nice, food was hit or miss. - best a la cartes: Italian (dinner), steakhouse, tapas, Mediterranean - worst a la cartes: Japanese (it was just ok), Mexican, Italian (lunch - was not Italian) - coffee shop onsite was cute, and had good iced coffee - like a Frappuccino! Rooms - we had booked an ocean front, which we got in building 14. Had a lovely view of the beach. - the downside of this room was it was right next to the beach bar which ended up being open late every night which me t we had loud people and music into the night every night right outside of our window - the worst night was the beach party which was basically right in front of our room. It was like the do was in our room lol - in room jacuzzi - not really worth it in my opinion. - room felt very small and cramped compared to some of the image we saw, but I’m sure all the rooms vary
