My husband and I have had a wonderful week on Santorini. View from the room (junior suite) was amazing, the bed comfy and the waterpressure great in the shower. Bfast was good. Service was not good unfortunately. Considering the price per night, one would expect so much more. Offering water or other drink upon arrival, information about wifi, bfast times etc would have been nice, instead we were asked to connect via WhatsApp. Had its positive sides but should have been combined with normal service. The feeling was that they preferred to deal as little as possible with their customers. The staff carrying luggage up and down all the stairs were amazing. The cleaning staff aswell, although room and shower could use a thorough clean. Bedspreads and outdoor mattresses were unclean. Some tales from our week: - We asked to change rooms straight after being shown to our room, as our room was located 230 steps from the main street and we had booked 7 nights. We were first told : “Usually the rooms next to the restaurant are the most sought after because they have an easier time accessing the sunbeds whenever available and because in contrast to the rooms located near the reception, they do not have to walk down for breakfast and then back up again. We would gladly take you up on that request and relocate you if availability allowed it, we are however fully booked for the days to follow” A very strange answer in our view. A couple of days later, after not hearing back from them, we asked again and were told : Unfortunately due to availability, we have no other room available. Most people stayed 2-3 nights and of course they could have swapped things around. - When we asked for information on how to get to Black beach we had to ask via their app 3 times, to be told: “You may find more information about that when you arrive at Fira main bus station, only 20 minutes away from the hotel”. - When we asked what a taxi would be to the airport booking through them, we were quoted 70 euros. We booked our own through Booking.com for 19 euros. - The pool mattresses werent put out during the first 4 days and when we asked for one we were told by the restaurant staff that they had been sent away for cleaning. Although we could see them in the storage room. Next day they were brought out after we asked reception staff for them. - When we asked about tips on things to do they were very disengaged and started to google answers. - The car rental company they recommended turned out to be expensive and didnt offer full insurance. Better option would have been through booking.com Tips: Dont bring highheels to Santorini, only sneakers and other flat shoes. There are a lot of steps everywhere in Oia and Fira. We loved Kamari beach. Public buses (comfortable and with a/c) leave regularly from Fira centre and cost 2 euros/person. Cash payments only. The walk from Fira to Oia was incredible, but leave early before it gets too hot.
