This was 4th time in Barbados but our first time staying at the Island Inn. We had a nice welcome. We booked a superior garden room, which we were pleased with. Room was large and spacious, with a large walk in wardrobe, which was really handy. Plenty of room for all our clothes and luggage. Very peaceful at night. Handy having a fridge in the room. Just a few niggles. Bathroom was bright but in need of an update . The bedrooms are quite dark, even in the day. We enjoyed our meals. Mixture of buffet and table service. Never went hungry, always something to choose from. Had the pack lunches a couple of times which were very good. Book them the night before. Cocktails were good and rum punches were strong , we found them better than the sister hotels. Staff were friendly and helpful. As it’s a small hotel you get to know most of them all after a few days. When we had a cloudy day we got a ZR bus towards Accra and walked back along the broad walk which was nice. We went to both sister hotels for lunch, Mango bay , Holetown and The Sands , Worthing. Perfect for us as we had a car for 9 days and were going there anyway. You need to book the day before. We visited the Graham Hall animal sanctuary which was fun and a lovely place to have walk. We drove over to Bottom bay a stunning beach on the Atlantic coast. One of the bar staff recommended us to go to the Nothing box a lovely cafe/restaurant/bar We popped in for a drink while on our travels, it’s on the Atlantic side, stunning views , and you can walk along the cliff tops. Lovely place. Went on to Bath beach, then Bathsheba. We also went back to Alleyens bay, Heywoods beach, Speightown, New to us this year was Thunder bay and a lovely quiet beach just past Hole Town, Colony club beach, Heron bay. We did Pebbles beach once and Carlisle bay a few times. (7 min walk) We always choose to sit near the first part of Carlisle bay you come to, before the sun beds start. Carlisle is a beautiful beach but it’s far too busy for us now. It’s heaving when there are lots of cruise ships in. If you are going to hire a car , best to do it over the weekend , as the roads are busy on week days, come the rush hour. Had a great holiday and thanks to all the staff at the island Inn. Hope to see you all again.
