Terrible check-in experience

I would like to formally express my dissatisfaction with my experience at Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf. Our check-in process was extremely disappointing. We made our reservation over a month in advance, specifically for our daughter’s 4th birthday, and requested two renovated rooms next to another. We were assured that this would be possible, and that we would be allocated the renovated lagoon rooms. We have documented proof of our communication with a member of the booking team confirming this. Upon arrival, we were informed that we had been upgraded to a beach room, but it was not the renovated room we had requested. Instead, it was an older style room, and the staff claimed this was because it was closer to the beach. We explained that, due to the intense heat, we would not be spending much time at the beach, and reiterated our preference for the renovated rooms, which would provide easier access for our daughter, who wanted to enjoy the pool for her birthday. When we raised this issue, the staff member contacted the booking office manager, who came to address us. He was extremely defensive and rude, insisting that rooms next to each other were subject to availability, despite having guaranteed us this arrangement when we booked over a month prior. Throughout the interaction, he refused to speak or make eye contact with me and only addressed my husband, which I believe was because I am a woman. No apology was offered for the inconvenience. I also explained that I am pregnant and feeling unwell, and that one room being ready would have been greatly appreciated, but this concern was also dismissed. This experience was very disappointing and marred what was supposed to be a special celebration for my daughter’s birthday.

Wow.. what a place!

Outstanding point to raise is the high level of personal service we received. Staying in Villa 29 we had a fantastic butler - Mohammed Aly, ably assisted by Santiago on occasions through the week. Both were super professional and highly efficient at serving our every need. Friendly, informative and good fun. However, it wasn’t just the Butlers. High praise must go to all the staff from Beach guys at Celeste who remembered your drink orders daily, and made you so welcome to the Pool guy who was falling over to assist you at the pool nearest to Villa 29. Greeting us each day by name which is incredible given how many guests he sees. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Huge thanks to all of the staff who made our first visit to Dar Al Masyaf. The staff at breakfast in The Pavillion. Polina and Olga for a lovely welcome and great service by the legendary Jordon, who has quite a following! Service was always great fun with her and again 5* Superb choice of restaurants throughout the resort, and Mohammed always on hand to recommend and make your reservations. Our favourite was Pierchic. Mainly for the flavoursome food not necessarily the service. The view was also incredible of the Burj. Villa 29 was vast. Clean and modern and I would return to stay here without a second thought. Housekeeping were phenomenal. Nothing ever too much trouble, and anything they forgot was rectified promptly. They were happy to fit cleaning and turn down around our schedule. Just so good! Room was always cleaned to a high standard. It was a delight to stay in the villa. Breakfast bags were provided as we left at 3.20am with hot drinks, fruit and pastries. Just cannot fault the place. Produce within the fridge and supplementary items in the room were very expensive would be my only criticism. Can’t wait to return.

Everything is magic in this wonderful resort. Location is perfect to enjoy a beautiful beach, the Jumeirah hotels facilities and Medina Souk. Rooms are comfortable and spacious enough. Service at top level as the amenities are. The team is outstanding in assisting about every single aspect. A special mention to Bryan and Ioana. Never tired to be back !
