Chose to visit the western coast of this isalnd to avoid the tourist dominated east coast. Lipa Noi is more traditional and wanted the natural environment set near the jungle. The resort is extensive: the main part (reception, restaurant, swimming pool & beach villas) then immediately across the road the gym and remaining plunge pool villas. The entire resort is set among beautiful gardens. Our villa was across the road which was ideal as we avoided the traffic of guests going past on the way to the beach, restaurant. The walk to the beach/restaurant (which was right by the beach) was only 1-2 minutes so no issue. The swimming pool is small and hardly used probably owing to the adjacent beach and private plunge pools. Our walled villa ensured privacy and quiet and the jewel was the private plunge pool with jacuzzi and mini waterfall. Really welcome after a day on the beach or touring - given the Thai temperature/humidity - such a great way to cool down/relax. The room was well proportioned with ample storage, a safe, fridge, tea/coffe faclities, tv (never used) and a large bathroom with rain shower and bathtub. Note soap, bath foam and shampoo only so bring own shower gel & conditioner. The room is clean and cleaned (inside and out) daily on time with regular bottles of water. Breakfast was included in the price so a real advantage if needed. It was generally the same but a good range: cereals, natural yoghurt, salads, fruit (eg dragon fruit, pineapple, different melons); an egg station; hot choices: bacon, frankfurters, noodles, (chicken congee on occasion); toast, juices and tea/coffee/hot chocolate. So I can't understand why some reviewers have complained: go and buy a luxury breakfast instead. The beach is quiet, sandy and gently shelving with calm waves. There is some seaweed. Ample umbrellas and lounges provided. There are about 5 local restuarants we frequented serving excellent cheap Thai cuisine. There are also some hotel restuarants serving more expensive western cuisine - do your research. Some restaurants accept cards and I believe there is an ATM at the nearest 7/11 (may need to get a taxi or 35 mins walk). Last but not least the staff are excellent, so polite, courteous and always willing to help. Definitely enjoyed our stay and planning to visit again next year.
