Kipriotis Maris Suites

We enjoyed our holiday at the Kipriotis Maris Suites but there were elements that could have better to improve the experience. We booked through TUI but this is primarily at Jet2 Hotel and we didn’t see a rep after the airport. We agree with previous reviews that this definitely isn’t a 5 star hotel, probably more of a high 3star, judging on a comparison to staying at a 4 star TUI magic life hotel on the other side of Kos island last year which was far superior. We didn’t however pay 5 star prices and I think for what we paid the hotel was fair. We arrived in the early hours of the morning, the transfer was great and we were checked in quickly and were provided with sandwiches. We had booked in June for an early August holiday and unfortunately our two rooms were not near each other, but the guy on reception explained that the hotel was full and apologised. Rooms were spacious and clean. The main beds were comfortable but the put up bed was hard. Bathroom wasn’t great but was clean, no plug in sink in one room, low water pressure in the other, no flushing of toilet paper allowed. Air con in rooms was variable- didn’t work very well in one, and cannot adjust it as no info on thermostat. Can turn on or off though. Rooms were cleaned daily but if you happened to be in the room when housekeeping knocked they wouldn’t necessarily come back- we had to get our own toilet paper from the trolley one day. One room overlooked pool area but access route was strange - had to walk around the outside of the site and up a small hill to get to it. Other room was easier to get to, had a sea view at the front of the hotel but there was a busy road in between. Balcony’s were shaded which was great, and had a table and enough chairs for the room. WiFi in the room at the front of the hotel was terrible, but not bad at pool and you could join a different hotels WiFi at the back which was much better. The first day we couldn’t get pool towels until after midday so limited options that first morning. You have to pay €10 cash per towel as a deposit but could change them in for clean towels when needed. Pool area was nice and clean, lots of shade and we managed to get 5 sunbeds together every day, but we were out early. The beds that were further back from the pool had less shade. The main pool is 1.55m deep - great for us with teens and most people used inflatables. It was big enough to not feel crowded for the size of the hotel. Food was reasonable but repetitive. Meat and fish was generally a bit over cooked, eggs were always cold. Vegetarian options again were reasonable but not huge, veggie choice at lunchtime tended to be better than in the evening, but had one evening where there was only sides or salad for veggies. Restaurant staff were all pleasant and quick to clear tables. There were very few tables for more than 4 people but you could request a reserved table for large groups. Information in the hotel was limited, we tended to hear from other guests in terms of what to do. Entertainment was fair- some evenings much better than others, and we thoroughly enjoyed the film quiz! Evening seating area was small and extra tables were needed. Drink choice was fair and bar staff were great. Only one bar though so regular queues. Only one bottle of water provided on arrival though and either had to refill that at the bar, buy some in the shop - €4.50 for 6 2l bottles- or very occasionally there were small bottles at the bar. Toilets by the pool were really not nice and we chose to go back to rooms instead. The snack bar was limited in amounts cooked and ready and wasn’t restocked quickly. Beach had designated sunbeds with shade but they were a bit tired, had a beach bar which served soft drinks, beer and some cocktails. We used the e scooters to get into Kos town which were great. €4 gets you to the edge of the town then you can walk in. Watersports centre on the beach also good option and fair prices. The cat and four kittens were a highlight! We asked about late checkout but this wasn’t available due to the hotel being full, we were able to book a shower slot from the day before we left (again something we heard from others- not told this by staff) which we did, however these were at the neighbouring hotel and were two grotty showers, one of which didn’t drain, and we kept having people knocking on the door and trying to get in as, despite us having to book a slot, the hotel that they were at told guests just go down and use them. Most stressful shower ever! TUI online help wasn’t of any use. Answers could take 30mins and with WiFi being patchy we gave up. Kipriotis staff were very helpful when we emailed from the airport after we left to ask them to check our safe because we couldn’t find the spare car key, they were very quick to respond to and really lovely. Fortunately it was in the bottom lining of a bag when we got home but they were so nice to check for us. TUI were no help with this, told us to contact the hotel but gave no details, so had to rely on google. Overall not bad but definitely not 5 star, only book if are happy with a good 3 star but happy to pay 4 star+ tax.

We’ve just finished our stay at Kipriotis Maris and wanted to leave a positive review as we genuinely had such a lovely time. The first thing we notice is how friendly everyone is. From breakfast in the morning to drinks in the evening, there was always someone smiling, saying hello or having a quick chat with you. The staff really do create the atmosphere here. We particularly enjoyed our time around the pool. The pool is massive and has a very relaxing vibe to it. We normally sat by the kids pool as it was normally more quiet due to having less kids in the hotel during our stay. The entertainment team really brought such a fun vibe to the hotel. They work incredibly hard and are always ensuring the activities are fun for all guests. Special thank you to Taylor, Lara and Sean who is a real challenger in Ping pong. The food was enjoyable and there was usually something different for us to try each meal. Our rooms were comfortable too, and the hotel in general was a nice place to spend our week. We’d happily return to Kos and this hotel again.

Although rated as 5*, this hotel is certainly no more than a 3. Be prepared to get up early to save a sunbed. The food is both bland and repetitive. The hotel in general is in need of refurbishment or a more accurate 3*rating. The rooms are dated and we suffered numerous air con issues and even when it worked, it was not that cold. Numerous power cuts also and broken fittings in the bathroom. What saves the hotel, is the staff. They are very polite and courteous and the entertainment team are full of energy. Kos town is beautiful and I will visit again although sadly, not to this hotel.

We are back a couple of weeks but finally getting to write my thoughts on the hotel . Firstly I would like to thank the exceptional staff who go above and beyond to try and make your holiday special. The kind reception staff that no question is unanswerable. Fotini and her hard working restaurant staff . They truly made our son’s 16th birthday special by decorating the table and area and organising a birthday cake . Singing happy birthday to him in Greek and English . The bar staff for their quick service always with a smile and always going out of their way to get my milk for my iced lattes when they didn’t have any behind the bar. The hotel manager Olga , I would like to thank her for all the help with answering all my questions and sorting the few issues we did have. On arrival she had upgraded us , we had a little leak in our bathroom and it was sorted by Olga within minutes. We had hornets and pest control was sent straight away . She really does her best for the guests . As for the entertainment team they are exceptional and work so hard with a limited budget. A special thank you to Sean , Taylor and Lara. We had the same lovely lady cleaning our room for the two weeks. It was kept spotless, fresh towels daily and she changed our bedding every second day if not daily. Yes the hotel is tired in some parts and I do think the grading should be considered to be lowered until all the work is completed but this is not the staffs fault . We were so lucky to get the room we did , it was spotless , freshly painted . The dark furniture does not bother us as it’s very Greek but yes the bathrooms do need upgrading but saying that ours was spotless and the grouting looked freshly done . The facilities do need repairing and replacing in parts. But daily there is repairs being made , the hotel has so much potential and once revamped and tweaked I think it will be a great resort. We had a wonderful holiday as we go out and do so much but we did enjoy our stay in the hotel because the staff were so welcoming.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel and really enjoyed every moment! The atmosphere was wonderful, the staff was very friendly, and everything felt welcoming and relaxed. A special shoutout to the animation team, who made our holiday even more fun and memorable! They were always friendly, energetic, and in a great mood. Especially Taylor and Lari deserve a huge compliment! ❤️ They were incredibly kind, funny, welcoming, and always made sure everyone was having a good time. You can really tell how much passion they put into their work. They brought so much positive energy to every day and made us feel very welcome.
