Nice hotel but unfortunately falls short in a number of areas, service and consistency are the main issues. Sorry this review is LONG so grab yourself a cuppa before perusal! Hotel / Grounds / Room - Hotel grounds and rooms are all clean, modern and well kept. Lobby / entrance area is impressive. Rooms are a decent size. Toiletries provided although we stuck to our own. Air con good. No issue with bugs or mosquitos. Pool Area / Sunbeds - Guests reserve sunbeds! Don’t be fooled by other reviews that say it doesn't happen. We witnessed 2 families in dispute and nearly physically fighting over a sunbed issue. Sunbeds all claimed by 0900 daily. Area is clean and well maintained. Pool towels provided. Ice lollies available in a small freezer near the pool bar during pool bar opening hours (from 10am). Ask for them to be topped up if empty. Frustratingly, I witnessed some guests emptying this freezer of ice cream cornettos in one visit, leaving ice lollies only (twister type) for other guests. Take headphones, the repetitive music around the pool for 10 days was nothing short of annoying. Gym - Small and hot. If your the first morning visitor, turn the air con on to the left as you enter. 2 treadmills, step up machine, 2 bikes and a few weights. The treadmills have an on off switch at the back if they happen to be off when you visit. Spa / Indoor Pool - Both lovely. Although an absolute NIGHTMARE if using the facilities for freshening up before departure. Changing rooms are small and humid, one small changing bench fit for 1 person, no hairdryers (I asked for one, the hotel won’t provide due to H+S), limited number of showers (2 in the female changing rooms and around 3 just outside the changing rooms in the corridor area). Beach - Plenty of sunbeds on the beach. Sea clear and clean. Beach itself is stony and uncomfortable to walk on without footwear. Consider beach shoes. Lovely walk up to the cliff / forest area if you turn left out of the hotel onto the beach. Water Park - Small with a handful of slides. Fun for a visit to break up the day. Limited number of inflatables used for certain slides. You need to be assertive to obtain these as a lot of guests thought the inflatables were exclusively theirs and refused to share / take turns. Food - Was great (with the exception of dessert). Plenty of choice, never had an issue finding something to eat. Breakfast and evening meal we found best in the main restaurant. Lunch was better in the food court at the pool - pizza here was amazing, along with the jacket potatoes, available every day along with plenty of other dishes. Not all food / sauces labelled which was frustrating. Deserts not the best, ‘cheesecake’ is like eating gelatin. Some of the larger cakes you cut yourself were acceptable. Ice cream available during evening meal and served by a staff member which was sensible, given a lot of younger guests insisted on mauling food / deserts with their hands 🤮 and parents not even managing this. Not 5 star. Pinio - Nice selection of cakes / deserts / drinks available here in the day time. Piano player present on certain days which gave a lovely, relaxed vibe. They serve rolls here which may be handy to take with you for your trip back to the airport to save yourself the £60 bill for airport McDonald’s (the cost for 3 regular meals). Bring a lunch box from home to store it in as take away bags / boxes aren’t provided. Coffee Bar - Located in the far corner of the lobby. You’ll get the best hot chocolate and coffee from here as well as some lovely cakes / biscuits. Pangea - Ate at Pangea a la carte one evening, menu limited and not really to our taste although the fajitas were nice. Requested butter for the warm bread rolls provided, waitress didn’t appear to understand the request and just walked away leaving us with plain bread rolls. Nothing spectacular including the service, we stuck to the buffet restaurant for the reminder of our stay, cancelling the 2nd reservation we had made for the Turkish restaurant. Main Restaurant - You don’t get greeted and seated at the entrance of the main restaurant, resulting in A LOT of time spent searching aimlessly for a free table, THEN trying to find a staff member to clean the table, THEN trying to get clean cutlery, THEN having to find someone to order a drink and so forth. It doesn’t appear to come naturally to staff members to just do this. Ruined the dining experience for us. Having a staff member greet you at the entrance and then seat you at an already clean table would avoid this chaos. Entertainment - The entertainment is decent. There are pool games / activities during the day and different types of performances in the evening. Superman, one of the animation team, is fantastic and great at his job! Location - A Bazar (a short walk up from the hotel) has lots of market type shops with your usual dupe brands. Worth a look or just for a wander in the evening. Beware shop staff will hound you! We had some cash in lira however, I would suggest to bring euro as everything is priced in euro. There are also other shopping outlets a short walk left and right of the hotel although I didn’t consider these as good as the Alara bazar. Cliff / forest area as already mentioned has some lovely views and only a short walk left of the beach. Service / Consistency / Concerns - Trying to order basic drinks (water, Fanta, cola) in the evening at the bars and restaurant (mainly lobby and Pinio) was painful. Service slow and cumbersome. - The mini bar in the room contained some items which we were later advised were only to be provided upon initial arrival (mini toblerone, red bull, chilled coffee). I mean, if the hotel wish to claim they are ‘premium’ 5 star then surely these items should be replenished once consumed? Hardly a massive cost. Other items, clearly not falling into the premium category, were replenished such as Fanta, cola, cartons of fruit juice and chocolate wafer. - Lollies at the pool bar were an issue as mentioned I witnessed one child walk away struggling to carry the only 9 cornettos that staff had placed in the freezer. You’d think these items would be replenished but no, once the ice cream has gone that’s it for the next day if you’re lucky. The freezers will still have other lollies (twisters). - The QR codes at the pool area were more miss than hit. Drinks were rarely delivered despite an alert confirmation that the order had been received. Drinks are served with too much ice making them tasteless. - Not all staff have a good understanding of English. Staff don’t acknowledge you when passing in communal areas, no ‘good morning’ or ‘hello’. - Iron your clothing before you arrive, the hotel does NOT provide an iron due to H+S. You can pay per item to send the item for laundering / ironing. Cost depends on garment type but ranges from €1+ per item. - Don’t buy from the shops on the lower floor of the hotel. Walk 10 minutes up the road to the bazar. We purchased items from the hotel shop which we later realised were a fair bit cheaper at the bazar. - Cats saunter around the restaurant areas, brush up against your legs whilst dining and play fight by the pool. Not for me I’m afraid. I don’t believe in stray cats, or any animals actually, in a dining area where guests are consuming meals. Don’t bother informing any staff member as they just respond with a smile and say ‘it’s ok’ 😬 - Some parasol tables around the pool area were looking a little worse for wear and on one occasion the ashtray contained discarded cigarette butts having not been emptied. - Not a hotel issue but we found SOME non English speaking guests rude and pushy. - Concerningly, I once attended the female toilets on the ground floor to find a male standing near the sink area of the toilets. If holidaying with children, consider accompanying them to the toilets. - Transfer time to / from the hotel is over an hour, just something to consider. Not hotel related but airport was utter carnage (enough to put me off visiting Turkey for life). Be prepared for security after security checks, there were bag searches and drug swipes for every female at our boarding gate (despite already going through previous bag checks / person searches at security), lots of queues EVERYWHERE, over an hour to check luggage in and extremely expensive food outlets. In conclusion, this hotel has the potential to feel 5 star if some areas are addressed and improved upon. This was our first visit to Turkey which I can only describe as mediocre. Would I recommend the hotel? I’d say yes if you’re getting what you may consider an acceptable price for service delivery not quite 5 star. In my opinion, the hotel delivers a lacklustre 3 / 4 star service with 5 star physical amenities and grounds.
