What can I say....I had an awful experience from the start...this is my experience and my opinion. From arriving I was treated extremely poorly the GMgr actually made me very upset. He was aggressive and abusive. I had made my booking via Booking.com and all taxes and charges are paid at time of booking. I had all proof but they did not accept this and demanded that I pay an additional 30 Euros or he would not accept me at the hotel even though I had a booking confirmation. It was so upsetting and to treat a solo traveller this way is appalling! I paid the additional Euros as had no choice, what is the point of arguing with these people, I would take it up with Booking.com and my CC company. Booking.com even confirmed that I had already paid the taxes after I contacted them, but the hotel would still not give me the refund and take it up with the company they received my booking from. My experience from this is to not book through booking.com if it is a partner offer as you may also experience this tax issue. Not a nice experience. The room wasn't what I booked, but the GMgr said he'd given me an upgrade a new room. This room is upset some precarious wooden steps. Need cleaning. The room itself, shower was lovely, unfortunately for a new room it has some very bad workmanship. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. There were no reading lights, lighting in the room was poor. No plug outlet near the kettle area? Odd had to put the kettle on the floor. The TV did not work properly - no signal - the GMgr came to fix it a few times, but with over 300 channels it's an absolute joke. The safe is operating correctly. The lady on the front desk with glasses I found to be quite aggressive and unhelpful, telling me initially "I'm just an employee" not what you'd expect at a 3/4 star hotel by a person on the front desk in hospitality. I saw she was warm to other people but I found her quite rude and lying to my face a couple of times, about the situation I experienced says it all...I asked for a receipt/invoice for my overpayment for tax - she told me not possible didn't put herself out at all. Then low and behold the GMgr produces it. I get the feeling these people are not really trained in hospitality as the service is completely lacking and not up to standard. The pool is not heated so freezing.....it's okay...the bubbles from hydra part of pool nothing special.....they say on website by the beach with sunbeds etc. Please note these beds with the black umbrellas are run apparently by a separate company. Beware, they are scam merchants, telling you their beds are free and then tell you have to spend 35/50 euros on drinks, I wouldn't give them the time of day after how aggressive they were when I first arrived. They see you as a cash cow, they are not nice people and ruined the whole hotel by the beach experience. Fortunately I found other places to go whilst I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. So I managed to make the best of a bad situation. The breakfast is okay, its quite a nice spread but again not up to standard, mainly due to the service and the cleanliness. I saw a lovely young lady who works there clean the tables down with a cloth with no cleaning spray from table to table, so basically moving germs from one table to the next. It was the only hotel that I got bitten in....I've been in 5 other hotels on this trip. They need to add mosquito plugs into each room or take your own. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone I would say avoid at all costs. Yes out of season, but this is the time they should be making sure everything is working, that the guests are happy and well treated on arrival...They need to sort out their relationship with the people who run the beds with the black umbrellas in front of the hotel as they have an extremely bad reputation and is upsetting for the guests of the hotel. Towards the end the GMgr did seem to be more relaxed and kinder offering me wine and arranging for someone to help carry my case for me which was much appreciated, but I should never have experienced such an awful 24 hours of a 3 night stay. I would say this is a 2/3 star property at best and they are trying too hard to be something they are not. If they were more charming, relaxed and kind to people and made sure the breakfast area was clean, welcoming and tidy, with much nicer signs I am sure this property could be improved. You know the saying when something looks to good to be true it probably is, this is exactly how I would have summed up this hotel....nothing like the way it is marketed on website or pictures.
