What can I say that hasn’t already been said in countless other reviews? Kuta Paradiso Hotel is the kind of place that probably was great—about 20 or 30 years ago. Unfortunately, it feels like almost nothing has been renovated since then. The entire complex is extremely run-down, with visible mould, cracks, and structural damage throughout. The rooms leave a lot to be desired. Our balcony door was nearly impossible to open or close, and we regularly heard animals—possibly even rats—scurrying through the walls at night. We encountered cockroaches on multiple occasions, the toilet flushed poorly, and the shower barely functioned. The bathtub was so mouldy we avoided touching it altogether. While housekeeping did come daily, their efforts were minimal: they emptied the bins, changed the towels, and made the bed, but the bed linen was not changed regularly. There was a fruit platter left in the room on arrival, which was a nice touch—until it began to rot and mould and wasn’t removed. As for the breakfast buffet, there is some variation in food choices, but it rarely changes day to day. The quality was average at best, and after the first few mornings, we often chose to eat elsewhere. More concerning was the hygiene around the buffet. Other guests routinely left food containers open, failed to use the provided tongs, and showed a general disregard for sanitation—attracting bugs and creating an unpleasant dining experience. The hotel staff didn’t intervene. The location is fairly convenient, with easy access to the surrounding area, but there is no direct beach access despite the hotel being so close to the shore. It’s also worth noting that the area can be extremely noisy late into the night, which makes sleeping difficult. Realistically, this is a 3-star hotel at best, though it’s still advertising itself as 5-star. The only truly redeeming feature was the staff—especially the bar and restaurant staff—who were consistently warm, helpful, and attentive, even when everything else fell short.
