La Pirogue Mauritius

Exceptional service and staff. We have recently returned from another fabulous holiday at La Pirogue. We are regulars and are always delighted with the location, the beach, the garden, the food and the staff. One of the most special things about La Pirogue are the staff and their excellent customer service. We were totally spoilt and can’t thank everyone enough for making our holiday so wonderful. Firstly we would like to give a huge thank you to the Dinner Team, namely Sabrina, Raviv, Asif, Pravin and Sujal who went above and beyond every evening. Also a huge thank you to the breakfast team: Kamla, Lobin, Sookoo, Anne-Sophie and Prateek, who are all very attentive and kind. A special thank you goes to Stephan and Arte. So many wonderful people to mention who were all so kind & helpful to us during our stay. The staff deserves a huge standing ovation! We spent 5 nights in the most wonderful Mauritian bungalows overlooking the beach with a view of the evening sunsets. A real change from a normal hotel room - the bungalows were really lovely, clean and spacious. The whole experience was great - the buffet food for breakfast was very good but the evening meal choices were of a very high standard and we particularly enjoyed the individual salads set out every night. The staff were friendly and attentive both in the restaurant and bar and we watched the evening entertainment every night which was excellent and varied. The pool was lovely and big and we did a couple of sessions of aqua aerobics - there was different activities to do each day and these were advertised on your room TV. The highlight for me was a talk by a local marine biologist (Nitisha) who explained the dire situation of the reef corals and what the country is actively doing about it. She invited us out snorkelling to see for ourselves what they are doing to seed new coral beds and we actually cleaned the algae off some new coral on ropes with toothbrushes! We saw plenty of fish that we didn't see closer to the shore - so a really magical end to our holiday. Flic en Flac beach is amazing - sandy with some coral (recommend beach shoes) but crystal clear and really clean. Can't recommend this hotel highly enough as it's really something special.

Nice beachview, overall friendly stuff. However the rooms are run down. Overall nice hotel. Dont book taxi via hotel, do it on your own to save money,
