La piscine art We’ve stayed in La Piscine Art hotel several times, but feels it’s more modern now and we actually preferred the old style of the hotel. It was the islands top hotel, but could do with an upgrade, I’d class it at 4* at the most. It used to be a beautiful oasis of calm to walk through to the pool and Crazy Cow restaurant area, with lots of lovely billowing white nets and flowing white table clothes on the dinner tables, pretty lighting, candles and lanterns in the evenings. It’s changed so much and just basic tables now. We never saw anyone having dinner there, a few ate lunch. There was a musician on one night, but sadly not a sole person to play to, very disheartening. Very few guests drink in the bar, so no atmosphere at all, although it’s still a classy hotel. There are a lot of positives, it just depends what you want from your stay. It easy walking distance into the town, it’s adults only. The superior pool view, with private balcony rooms are comfortable enough, Room safes need a key, there’s a kettle and mini bar, the hairdryer is old fashioned hot air blower, which gets very hot to handle. All the staff and service are good. Everywhere is clean. The sun beds are comfortable. We thought the breakfast could be improved a lot considering it’s supposed to be 5*, food like eggs and bacon are not freshly cooked to order, so always lukewarm or cold, there’s only one 4 slot toaster working, guests constantly have to ask for more bread, butter, plates, food etc. it should be much, much better with freshly cooked food to order, like scrambled eggs and pancakes which were never available. As the hotel is officially classed as 5*, the compulsory Greek city tax is 15 Euros extra per room, per night. It’s still a very popular hotel, but could be top notch again if upgraded and food improved.
