We recently spent 10 nights at La Vela in Khao Lak, and we throughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel itself is a beautifully designed resort with various modern, stylish blocks spread across a spacious area that leads right onto the beach. The beach was a bit hit & miss with us being here during low season due to the waves, however a 20 min taxi ride will take you to numerous other beaches that are more accessible. There is a pool with huge inflatables for kids, an adults pool and a quiet pool. Breakfast deserves a special shout-out . There’s an enormous selection to suit every taste: Thai dishes, fresh sushi, continental fare, and just about any kind of coffee you can imagine. It’s more than enough to set you up for the day, and if you can’t find something you like here… you might be in the wrong country! The location is spot on too – right in the heart of Khao Lak, so you’re only a short walk from fantastic local restaurants, the vibrant night market, and all kinds of shops. It’s also incredibly easy to book day trips to temples, waterfalls, ethical elephant sanctuaries, or even ATV adventures if that’s your thing. The staff truly make this place shine. Everyone is warm, welcoming, and genuinely happy to help – always with a smile. A special mention goes to JP, Karen, Sarah, Toffee and Pascal, but honestly, the entire team goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is unforgettable. The rooms are immaculate – modern, spacious, and very well equipped. A big bonus is the large fridge, which means you can stock up at the local 7-Eleven and keep everything fresh. That said, the food and drinks at the hotel are reasonably priced. The lobster buffet with cocktail & fire show is really worth booking - great food & entertainment. Definitely one we’d go back to.

Just back from 20 nights at La Vela so wanted to leave a review. Short review... Would I return? Yes without a doubt. Long review. Fourth visit to Khao Lak. Previously stayed at the Kalima, Apsara and La Flora. I traveled this time with my husband and nearly two year old Granddaughter. The staff at La Vela are outstanding. By far the best of any hotel I have stayed in around the world! They were so attentive without being in your face. Helpful, just couldn't have done more to make us feel valued as guests. I brought a safety concern with the children's water park to the attention of the management and it was swiftly dealt with. They genuinely thanked me for bringing it to their attention. You can't ask for better than that. Coffee at breakfast is top class with Baristas that take pride in their craft. If you are a tea drinker take your own teabags, you can thank me later. Food was varied, plentiful and fresh. Plenty of clean highchairs available too. Hotel is clean and well maintained. Swim-up-room is large and well equipped with a full size fridge freezer. Pool was cleaned every morning. It has easy access and shallow areas with loungers. Our wee one loved the inflatable shark in the pool. Hotel location is perfect. With just a short walk to shops, restaurants and massage parlours. Being low season the hotel was quiet which suited us. The beach is not the best and if you are not a big fish or shellfish fan you may struggle to eat a lunch or evening meal at the hotel. We called into The Waters and asked for a look at their swim-up-rooms. There is nothing wrong with them but you can see why they are at a different price point to La vela In all a very enjoyable stay at La Vela and streets ahead of La flora which is part of the same group. We would return in a heartbeat!
