We came back home a couple of days ago, and the hotel left us with mixed impressions. Of course, reality always differs from the photos, and hotels in the South tend to wear out quickly. But in this case, the contrast between the pictures and reality was quite noticeable. It’s not critical, but you definitely feel that “in real life” it’s not the same. I had never experienced such a difference before. Room. We were given a room in the main building. I had read comments about insects and asked in advance for a higher floor to minimize the risk. Still, in my mother’s room there was a cockroach and even a big spider. The furniture was quite worn out, especially the wardrobes – clearly the cheapest possible, so now they look very used. We stayed in a triple room: one double bed for us, and two folding beds for our son, pushed together to make one “bed”. One of them was broken. Not a big issue for us, but usually you pay for proper furniture. Otherwise, the room was fine and met our needs. Cleaning. The staff are genuinely good, they do their best, including the housekeeping. They try to keep everything clean. But on our last evening we were given a torn towel. We wanted to take it to reception, but honestly, we didn’t have the energy anymore. That really spoiled the impression. Also, the balcony would benefit from a drying rack for towels and swimwear. Food. The food was varied, not “the same every day”. If you’re not there just to stuff yourself, you’ll find everything you need. But the hot dishes were not very tasty (sorry, I’m a chef, I worked in hotels like this, and it can definitely be done better). Surprisingly, fruits were unripe, even though you can buy delicious ripe ones right in the shop around the corner. Meat was often overcooked, fish too. Coffee wasn’t good, and at lunchtime you had to go to the bar next door to get it. Our son mostly ate his own porridge, which required hot water, and once during lunch I was told to go to the bar for hot water — what a great idea :) I also read complaints that gelato was for extra charge, but actually there was always free ice cream at lunch and dinner. Gym. The gym equipment looked like it was taken from the nearest junkyard — unpleasant to even touch. Honestly, better not to have a gym at all than to have one like this. Beach. An odd sight: public beaches are very clean, while on the hotel’s private beach cigarette butts were buried in the sand. Of course, this is also about the guests’ behavior — what’s wrong with you people? Also, the “reserved sunbeds” culture was alive and well, greetings to those people! Otherwise, the beach was nice, and the pools too. Some sunbeds were torn, but only a few. Restaurant (dinner). Dinner was simply a disaster. I don’t know why — maybe too many people — but the situation was awful: the noise was so loud you could only shout to each other, there were queues not only for food but just to get a free table. In this chaos, kids kept bumping into people, dropping dishes, and that only made the atmosphere worse. Honestly, I’ve never seen anything like it. This really needs to be fixed. Another detail: walking out of your room and seeing dirty dishes lining the corridor is not the most pleasant experience. Maybe some people weren’t full enough at dinner, but at least keep the dishes in the room or take them back to the restaurant later. Guests themselves also contribute to the negative impression, and in this hotel, weak cultural habits of some people created at least half of the discomfort. Overall. Overall, it was a good stay. The staff are excellent, and both the hotel and its guests are lucky to have them. But there are questions for the management — why not invest a little money to maintain the declared level? Or at least update the photos on the website. You won’t fool anyone anyway.
