We visited this resort after purchasing certificates on a previous Palace visit, and this trip could not have been more disappointing. First, the certificates Palace sells you as you are checking out are a scam. Be warned. Their sales people blatantly lie to you to sell these. Almost nothing we were presented was true. Palace Resorts changed the calendar which was presented to us upon purchase so they could upcharge a significant fee and refused to honor the originally presented fee. They changed policies from the time we purchased them as to how are resort credits could be spent, and did not honor the policies that were in place upon purchase. They did not provide us transportation to and from the airport as was in the contract. We spent nearly double the cost that was presented to us when we purchased the certificates. If you are as foolish as we were in purchasing these certificates, get everything in writing. Do not depend on them citing policies: if it is not part of your contract, they will not honor it, and even then it is questionable. Their management and customer service team is disinterested and did not make any effort to resolve issues. Restaurant reservations were in limited availability despite making reservations weeks before we left for this trip, and they were not flexible to changes. We ate at Terraza one evening and there were LARGE COCKROACHES sauntering out of the kitchen area and under our table. These were large enough to be an entree. Our server loudly smashed one with his foot and a manager interrupted our dinner later to come to our table to try to convince us their restaurant was still clean and passed health inspections. Needless to say smashed cockroaches at our table made the meal unappetizing. The food at this particular restaurant was not great to begin with, and they would not let us change our reservations. The other restaurants were better, but almost identical menus to Sun Palace which is significantly cheaper. Next was the rooms. We keep our room tidy, try to get to know people, tip very well, and can even conversationally speak Spanish. The people were pleasant to our faces. However, we would get up early, straighten our room, make the bed, turn on the clean room sign, mention to our butler, and two of the four days we returned to our room after lunch and our room had not been touched at all. In the evenings our rooms were not turned down, despite specifically asking our butler to have this done. I am a simple, low maintenance traveler, the most important thing that i really like to have at a resort or hotel are fresh, clean towels. Despite asking for those to be refreshed in the evening, we would return and nothing had been done. One evening we came back, noticed nothing had been done, requested fresh towels and left again. When we came back, a few towels had been left, but they had simply been thrown on the floor. Food items were not picked up for hours and sometimes not at all. They tried to assess a fee for a basic sparkling wine in our room, and would not let us change the selection of beverages in the fridge. Snacks were not restocked until our last day there. The barkeeps at the pool bar were friendly. However, despite the advertising of premium liquors, the bars were frequently out of items. There are tiles missing from the pool creating sharp edges to walk on. Pool seating is competitive and you have to get there very early. The resort allows people to reserve seats and then not show up all day long. They prioritized areas for obnoxious instagrammers and influencers. There were overflowing toilets that flooded the pool bathrooms with vomit and feces. Most of the people we talked with only go to this resort and therefore do not have a frame of reference to compare it to others, so take caution with reviews praising this place: it certainly does not live up to the hype or price point. There is very little diversity and it even seems unwelcome. There is a reason it is named "le blanc". For all the great things we have heard about this place, we certainly did not experience it. Your time and money are valuable. Spend them elsewhere where they are not simply coasting on name recognition. The quality and service are long gone from this resort.
