We have recently returned from a trip to the Lindian Village Resort in Rhodes. Parts of our stay were great, but overall our experience was a little disappointing. I'm certainly struggling to justify the money that we spent, as well as the… Show more 5* rating the hotel has been awarded. Prior to departing, we noticed a few poor reviews on TripAdvisor, which started to worry us a little, but as it was mixed with more positive reviews, we still went with an open mind! On arrival, we were told that our all inclusive experience would involve one dinner at each of the 3 a la carte restaurants, but any further visits would incur a cost, and that some items of the menus in said restaurants would incur additional charges (although we never actually saw a menu with items at additional cost). We were then shown a map of the resort, and led to our room. The room itself was nice enough (and the bed in the lounge area was more than adequate), with a decent sized garden area with private pool, although it could do with a bit of a refresh, and there were a few small issues: - blood on the bedsheets... including even after they were changed! - the shower holder over the bath was broken (and so couldn't hold up the shower head, but luckily there was a seperate shower) - the separate shower was dirty and the water didn't drain effectively - the pool was dirty (and it was rarely cleaned while we were there) - the mini bar was restocked only once in our week's stay - expect to see ants, and a lot of them, even if you are keeping it as clean as possible The hotel has a nice pool area, but the pool needs more regularly cleaning, the sun loungers were typically dirty, and it was very hard at times to come across any towels. If it wasn't for the lovely lady serving drinks around the pool, we would have spent a fair amount of time queueing for drinks, and a number of drinks were served luke-warm. I also wouldn't recommend use of the private beach, as it was quite dirty. In terms of food / restaurants, we had a number of good dinners (in the Asian and Italian restaurants), but were shocked at the poor quality of the buffet restaurant for lunch and dinner. Breakfast at the buffet restaurant was reasonable, and there is a good selection of food, but a lot of the staff aren't too interested in your experience. The Greek restaurant was extremely poor (bar the dessert), and it certainly wouldn't inspire anyone to want to try Greek cuisine. Lastly, in the Italian restaurant for lunch, the menu is extremely limited. One day, we were given the dinner menu at lunch time, and when we went to order, we were told that we couldn't have the pasta. We also ended up a pizza short, even after asking 3 waiting staff on the whereabouts of said pizza! The food truck quality varied by the day... our first experience was positive, our second experience was salty - literally! We ended up travelling in to Lindos for a couple of evenings to have a break from the monotony of the poor food, and I would highly recommend visiting both Akres (albeit it was expensive) and Almyra, as both meals were incredible, and we have raved about both ever since! However, do not expect an easy trip in to Lindos. On our first visit, we asked reception for a taxi at 7pm, and it finally showed up at 7.40pm, meaning we were late for our reservation at Akres. We also had to share the taxi with two unknown people, and we were both charged for the trip. Our second visit meant that we called the concierge at 6pm to book a taxi for 7pm. When we arrived at reception, we checked in to confirm we were ready and waiting, but the taxi didn't arrive until 7.30pm - again, making us late for our reservation. We, again, had to share this taxi, but it meant that our first stop was in Lardos... The concierge at the hotel was extremely unhelpful. The hotel is located in a secluded area, which I presume made the taxis more problematic than you would expect, so I would recommend a hire car if you do book here. Lastly, there is very little in the way of entertainment, both for adults and especially for children. Our 13 year old daughter's only option for the week was a bubble party (which doesn't seem to appeal to 13 year olds!). Outside of this, the only other entertainment that we came across was a DJ at the main bar area post dinner on two of the evenings. Although we were able to laugh a lot off, it is important for others to know what to expect from the Lindian Village. We had a perfectly pleasant experience once we determined that we weren't in for a luxury stay, but we returned to the UK disappointed in our experience based on the cost of the hotel! I'd warn people before booking to consider the above, as well as some of the other recent reviews, which have really got it spot on about the hotel. I certainly wouldn't return at the rates currently being charged, as you would expect a lot more! Show less

Here is our honest review: We are very disappointed with our stay here. This resort does not deserve its 5-star rating! On the first day, we were shown three different King Mediterraneo rooms, all with mold on the walls - both in the… Show more bedroom and the bathroom. The smell was disgusting! Overall, the rooms were dirty - we found hair on the bed, unclean cups, and trash on the floor. In the bathroom, there was rust on metal fixtures and drain covers, and both the toilet and sink were dirty. After nearly four hours of back and forth following our arrival, and only thanks to the help of Front Desk Manager Christine, we were finally given a better room - thankfully, free of mold. As for the food in the main buffet restaurant, the lunch selection was very limited. Dry bread and overly salty coffee seemed to be the norm, and be careful with the yogurt in bowls - we once got a spoiled one! The hot dog at the Yummy Truck was a stale bun with a terrible-tasting sausage - we strongly recommend avoiding it. We didn’t try the burgers. On a more positive note, the à la carte restaurants serve really delicious food. We do recommend those. Housekeeping: Our sheets were changed, the bin was emptied, and we received fresh towels – and that’s all you can expect. The floor was left dirty, and the carpet had lots of crumbs and debris. The bathroom still had dusty surfaces and unclean spots, and the bathtub was not properly cleaned. The fridge was stocked only once during the 5-day stay, even though it was promised to be done daily. The resort itself is poorly maintained and certainly not worth 5 stars - or the price. 10 days before our trip, after reading several bad reviews, we started to worry and even seriously considered changing the resort. But we decided to write to the hotel and were reassured by Reservation Manager Sartoria that everything was fine and that all issues had been resolved. We must admit - we felt relieved. Before arriving, we wrote again, explaining that this trip was important to us, and kindly asked to be given a nice and clean room. Again, Sartoria assured us not to worry and that they were looking forward to welcoming us. In summary: Do not trust the photos or the recent good reviews.
