Whilst the location and views from the hotel and pool room are beautiful, that’s where the positive comments end. Unfortunately we chose this hotel as our last holiday as 2 before we welcome a baby. We frequently book 5 star adults only resorts in Rhodes, Kos, Crete and Turkey. This hotel really was a let down from start to finish. We had 4 days of building work, which we were not notified of prior to arrival. They kept telling us the works was complete and the very next day we had another day of drilling from 10am - 3pm… peak hours that we wanted to use our private pool. The pool was not clean on arrival. It took them 2 days to send anyone to clean it and we know they hadn’t attended when we were out as the same straw packet was in the pool where it was on arrival! I asked how frequently the pool is cleaned and all of a sudden someone turned up on our pool terrace. They did not knock and I had just got out the shower and was trying to cool down… was rather embarrassing but he carried on. Didn’t once ask. Again turned up 2 days later when we were IN THE POOL and started putting the net and brush in the pool! We were gob smacked. Our neighbours also had a maintenance man arrive whilst they were in the pool, he GOT IN THE POOL to change a filter with the fittings and a mastic gun. Again, we could not believe they think this is acceptable 1. Not to ask but 2. To do this whilst you are using the private facility that you have paid for. The smell of sewage not just outside our room but in the sofa area of our room was overpowering, again I reported this and they attended on day 5 of our weeks holiday. The maintenance man couldn’t speak any English so he didn’t know what the issue was, and left again. The breakfast was nothing short of appalling. Chunk of chicken sausages (yes, not even a whole sausage!), beans and scrambled egg. The cereal was branflakes or cornflakes and 1 toast machine for the whole hotel to use. The best part of the breakfast was the orange juice… I asked for decaffeinated coffee being pregnant and was told they didn’t have any! Fresh fruit was available on the first day and after that was just a tinned fruit selection! The air conditioning was unreliable and stopped working at times, meaning we had to request a fan. The balcony furniture was rusty, and despite advertising what you’d expect from a luxury stay, the minibar consisted of nothing more than an empty fridge. There wasn’t even a complimentary bottle of water waiting for us on arrival. The USB chargers next to our bed was broken on both sides. We were told this would be fixed but they never arrived. Overall, we left feeling extremely disappointed. For what is marketed as a 5 star experience, the hotel falls far short. I would not recommend booking here if you’re looking for the standard of accommodation and service that a genuine 5 star hotel should provide. The island has many fantastic hotels… this is definitely not one of them! Don’t make the mistake we did.
