From the moment we walked into the reception at the Village Resort, we were made to feel welcomed, a very tasty homemade lemonade welcome drink and some nibbles were brought to us and Marie on reception was very patient and calm (I had issues with the app, which perhaps it would be a good idea for the hotel to email a link to before checkin). George (who honestly could not do enough for us every time we saw him and always greeted us with a big smile) took our bags for us up to the room, where (it was dark when we arrived) there was a bottle of wine and water waiting for us. We immediately went out onto the balcony but couldn't see our view as it was dark, but could hear the entertainment from the bar. The room itself was cleaned every day, the bed was super comfortable and the air con heaven sent lol We were in room 302, and the view when we saw it in the morning did not disappoint. We booked a panoramic view and going out on the balcony every day was bliss. The bathroom could do with a little updating and somewhere to hang clothes would be useful. But we got fresh towels every day and it was clean. Our room was perfectly situated near enough to reception (although a good flight of stairs up). Staff, as mentioned the staff are what makes the hotel feel so special. Every single person we met was welcoming. As mentioned Marie and George and the lovely Bellina, our lovely Hungarian hostess at the bar (I hope this is your name as it was hard to read your name tag and I didn't get to ask your name) Always greeted us with a smile and remembered our drinks etc. Facilities: If you are not a fan of stairs this hotel is not for you. A lot of up and downing. Down to the pool there's a good few flights of stairs (although the pool was semi busy a lot of the time it never felt too busy and we always got a good sunbed) You certainly get your steps in in this hotel :D Also I dunno if it was just me but in Rhodes in general you get the occasional waft of their sewage works I think because of the way it is designed and it wasn't just in this hotel .. Tips: If you plan to go to Lindos you ask at reception and they give you a taxi number which helps stop any potential bun fight over whose taxi it is but bear in mind it's 15 euros each way for about a 7 mins journey. The hotel are missing out on perhaps a shuttle bus a couple of times a day (paid for by guests).. The public bus stop is at the bottom of a steep hill and I would say around a 10 mins walk at least, and this may not be your ideal way of going back and forth due to the steep climb and the heat. The beach buggy provided by the hotel down to the beach was a god send.. We walked down a few times and up a few times but after a lot of snorkelling and swimming it's nice to just jump onto the buggy, something similar to this from the bus stop would be a good idea. Overall we had a lovely, relaxing and very special stay (especially on my partner's birthday when we went into our room to find a cake in the fridge as a surprise) .. The warm welcome, thoughtful touches and incredible staff made it a really special experience. We left with lots of happy, amazing memories and would love to return one day
