Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancún

I don’t understand how this resort has so many 5 star reviews. I have stayed in several high-end AI resorts, and this was the worst. Additionally, this was one of the most expensive resorts I’ve stayed in the past several years. There were almost no chairs available around the pool, and you will pay $85/day for a cabana. Upgrading to the Aqua club gives you access to a lounge but nothing more. The building and room were incredibly outdated and looked severely tired. In fact, our patio door extending out into the balcony was broken. The alcohol selection was limited, and the service was incredibly hit or miss. The food was mediocre at best. Nothing at LA felt like luxury, and there was no WOW factor anywhere in the hotel. We did have a concierge named Stefanie, and she was great and always offered to help with reservations or anything else we needed. I have stayed at Secrets - The Vine and Playa Mujeres - and had a far better experience. I understand all resort can have an off week with staff shortages and other issues, but this was a disappointing vacation.

Service is great! Edourd was fabulous. We needed floaties blown up and he made sure all was taken care of. The foot massage with cabana rental was perfect!

This truly was a 5 star experience. For me the 1st place goes to service, 2nd place food, 3rd place pools and beach. We needed a break from life and we definitely found it here. Friendly staff and a relaxing atmosphere with lots to do of you wanted but not so in your face that you felt overwhelmed with activities. You can walk across the street to a shopping mall if you want to stroll though the shops. The only slight criticism I have is that none of the 7 USB ports in our room worked so make sure you bring a charging brick. Also more umbrellas and sunbeds are needed at the poolside! Yes guests do go early in the morning to reserve chair and umbrellas because the $85 upcharge for one of the over abundance of cabanas is too high. A lot of the cabanas will sit empty and just be taking up space and you are not allowed to use them unless you pay which seems unfair. The only other thing was because it was our first visit and I had done my research I was worried about paying the vista Tax. None of the concierge staff seemed to know anything about it. So we ended up paying it online, but I think it may have been included with the hotel check out charge, and then at the airport no one even asked for proof of payment. It was very confusing and I wish the staff knew more about this law to be able to help us. However, we will be better prepared next time for our visit because we will be back.

We got engaged at live aqua a year and a half ago and returned this past week for our honeymoon. We upgraded to the presidential suite and it was a dream. Stephany and Arutro were our butlers and they went above and beyond to meet our needs and more! We can’t wait to come back! They treat you like familia. :)

We have loved our time here at live aqua, the staff is so friendly and have been incredible. Be sure to visit Marco at the breakfast buffet in the morning to get the best smoothie, try his specialty the avalanche. Caesar at the pool never left us thirsty and Chef Cesar never left us hungry!
