Luna Miramar Club

We are currently here at the Lunar Miramar Club Hotel . I need to write this honest review to warn the youngsters to be aware of the new rule the manageress has decided to apply to all groups of young girls and lads . We are two mothers on a birthday break with our grown up daughters. So have been looking out for the younger travellers probably on then first holiday abroad. One group of girls arrived at reception an were obviously very distressed as the manageress refused to hand over room keys until they all paid an extra 300 euros each as a deposit for damages???? Only in cash !!! The situation was becoming very upsetting for the girls who were on the phone to parents and also Love Holidays the company they booked through, as did we! After much discussion and intervention she agreed to 10 euros each !! But not tell the lads that were also checking in as she was charging them the 300? We advised them not to hand over the cash . But I think they did ? This is not a family hotel I would definitely not bring my 2 young grandchildren. Hotel is dated , rooms are not the cleanest , except for breakfast food is shocking. We have had to eat out every evening for 3 nights . Restaurants in old town are amazing! However we should not have has to spend even more money on an all inclusive holiday. We've now checked out at 11 and have been told we are not allowed to drink and eat all day ! We argued this and she's allowed us to have lunch but no drinks !! Please think carefully before booking. Alright for hens, stags or youngsters wanting a good time . Not for anyone who wants good food and good service as staff are rude and not helpful at all . There working conditions are shocking so not surprised their attitude is the same. Albufeira is stunning and we will return. However my choice of hotel I will be choosing very carefully.

I don’t know why there are so many bad reviews about this hotel.. 4 star no ! But hotel rooms are clean, staff are lovely, food was ok same as all other all inclusive. We had a lovely time.. yes hotel around is dated but no bed bugs, no cockroach, no issues with the room so please give it a chance !

Well where do I even begin with this so called 4* hotel!? For a start this is the furthest from a 4 star that I have ever seen!! Staff are not helpful, in fact some were just rude and the manger does not seem to care about anything! Location wise, it is in a good position for most of the local attraction’s. There are shops and food places local… which is just as well because the food at the hotel is so poor! The pool can get quite loud and rowdy later in the afternoon. It would not be somewhere I would be comfortable having children. On one occasion we sat by the smaller pool to avoid the loudness but was asked to move by the manager as the Portuguese guests were unhappy with us using the sunbeds there and complained. The hotel itself itself is large, the rooms are spacious and are furnished with a sofa bed and dining table. We had a 1 bed apartment which appears to have been lost in the land that time forgot! Very dated rooms, not like they appear on the photographs. In the bedroom there are two single beds which can be separated to make a twin room or pushed together for a double. Depending on which floor you were, would determine whether you had running water or not! Those on the higher floors (we were on the third floor) struggled to get showers due to the water pressure dropping during busier times. Hotel are aware and once they are notified they use a pump to boost this, however, they wait until a guest calls reception to complain, then it takes another 10 mins or so for this to kick in! There were live cockroaches running along the corridors and in apartments but there does not seem to be any evidence of pest control in this hotel. The food was horrendous! Considering this it is all inclusive there was very little that was actually edible and food just appeared to be reheated from lunch and dishes made up from the days previous meal offerings! The pool bar which advertises food from 11-18:00 doesn’t actually serve food between 12:30 and 2:30 as the food is used for the restaurant. There were the same hot dogs, burger and pizza every lunch and in the evening, it mainly consisted of rice, some meat dish and salads. The breakfast was probably the better meal of the day however, check the food because we were served raw sausages and a few of our party have since become quite unwell with food poisoning. We had to notify staff that the plates were dirty and still had remnants of the previous days food on them. All inclusive drinks consist of limited cocktails, beer, spirits or soft drinks. Anything outside of the basic came at a cost. Ice cream which is advertised as included in one scoop of the ice cream tub which on most days they did not have available and again only available when it wasn’t needed in the restaurant. I also seriously question the safety of the water as one occasion after flushing the toilet, a live fish was seen swimming in the toilet bowl! The management were quite amused by this but it does indicate a serious problem with the water supply and drainage!! General hygiene standards are very poor. One of the stair walls and bannisters had vomit down it which was reported but never cleaned. I have since learnt that the same issue had been reported before we’d even arrived at the hotel and nothing had been done to clean it! There was also a serious security issue which the hotel refused to take control of and left a number of people on our party feeling quite vulnerable. We only stayed 3 nights but I do fear what might have happened if we stayed any longer! All in all, I would NOT recommend this hotel, in fact I would say avoid at all costs!! I have never experienced anything like it in my life and I am someone who would normally take reviews with a pinch of salt but not anymore! Somebody will get seriously ill from this hotel!

I genuinely don’t know how Luna Miramar Aparthotel is still operating under a 4-star rating. My week-long stay here was nothing short of appalling, and I left feeling angry, disappointed, and completely let down—especially after paying nearly £900 for what was supposed to be an all-inclusive holiday. Let’s start with the staff. Aside from Daniel at the bar, who was genuinely kind and helpful, the rest of the staff were incredibly rude and unwelcoming. Every time we asked for something we were entitled to—like a drink or fresh towels—we were met with eye rolls, dirty looks, and a general attitude that made us feel like an inconvenience rather than guests. It felt hostile and judgmental, and it created a tense atmosphere that no one wants to experience while on holiday. The hygiene was absolutely disgraceful. Our room was cleaned only once during the entire week, and that “cleaning” consisted of nothing more than changing the bedding and a quick mop, which did nothing. The floors were filthy—our white socks turned black after walking around for just a few minutes. Towels and toilet paper weren’t replenished; we had to ask repeatedly and waited two days to get basic essentials. We weren’t the only ones either—other guests shared the same complaints. To top it off, there was vomit in the stairwell that remained there for the entire week. No one cleaned it. It was just left to fester, stink, and spread across the stairs—a blatant health hazard. The food was another huge letdown. The all-inclusive buffet was shockingly poor—limited options, often cold, and completely unappetizing. Out of the 7 nights, we were forced to eat out for nearly every meal, costing us an extra £200–£300 just to have something edible. For a 4-star hotel, this is completely unacceptable. The rooms were dated and depressing—like something out of the 1980s and nothing like the photos shown online. Even worse, as a qualified electrician, I was horrified to see exposed live terminals in the light fittings. This isn’t just poor maintenance—it’s dangerously unsafe and poses a serious risk, especially to children or taller adults. The hotel is clearly not being held to any reasonable safety standards. If I hadn’t been travelling with a large group of friends and family, I would have left Luna Miramar Aparthotel immediately and booked alternative accommodation elsewhere. The only reason I stayed was because I didn’t want to be separated from the rest of my party. No one should have to endure such poor conditions on a holiday they’ve paid good money for. Considering the unacceptable hygiene, rude service, unsafe conditions, and inedible food, I genuinely believe a refund is the very least that should be offered. This experience fell far below even basic expectations, let alone those of a so-called 4-star hotel. Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Between the unhygienic conditions, rude staff (with the exception of Daniel), terrible food, and unsafe rooms, I would never stay here again and would strongly advise others to stay far away. Loveholidays should be ashamed to list this hotel. It completely ruined what should have been a relaxing break.
