Mahagiri Villa Sanur

For how small the property is, Mahagiri Villas is a property with highly elevated amenities, and a staff that is fully dedicated to the craft of providing top tier hospitality. We stayed for 4 nights, and could have easily stayed for another 4. If you are there on a Wednesday night, the Balinese dance and dinner show is an absolute must. My husband and I also took the cooking class with Chef Gusti, who was an incredible instructor. We will most definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Bali.

We stayed for 4 nights in what Booking.com describes as a one-bedroom pool villa with private pool We have stayed in similarly described accommodation elsewhere in Asia and enjoyed the experiences but not this time Our villa was spacious – large bedroom area – dressing area – indoor bathroom with bath – outdoor shower – separate covered area – fridge – hot drinks maker – double recliner/lounger – pool small – unheated – about 4 feet deep – and only suitable for plunging - our room came with a free transfer to the airport Breakfast taken in the restaurant – table service based on an extensive menu – lunch and dinner on offer – but very few takers for dinner The hotel is located on a semi-residential street – 10-minute walk to night market – a further 10-15 minutes to Mall with MandS and lots of other retail outlets and a food court – and then a further 5 minutes to the beach and the promenade – we ate at Mama Tapas and Naughty Nuri’s The hotel – we were told – had several sun loungers on the beach – we found them – unmanned – brollies with holes – about 4 in all – shoehorned into a small space almost in front of the turtle conservation building – not the most attractive of settings But the hotel didn’t live up to my expectations. We had a number of problems with the room from the outset – when we arrived it was very hot – the aircon was not making any inroads into the heat – an engineer arrived but the problem persisted overnight – the bed felt damp and unaired – and we felt that it hadn’t been used for a while – the issues raised with front desk the next day – then an army arrived – deep clean – bedding changed – aircon repaired – pool fed with chemicals and leaves cleared - thereafter we basked in the coolness – but why wait? The layout was not convenient – each time you wanted a hot drink or a cool one from the fridge you had to go outside to get it – there were no sun loungers with brollies outside – and I did ask for one, but it never transpired – and realistically there wasn’t the space The larger villas appeared to be certainly more spacious with a proper sized pool and sun loungers – and whilst we were there was a large group celebrating a significant event – and on one night they had a special dinner in one of the villas at a very long table From my experience I came away feeling I should have chosen to stay one of the many upmarket hotels – for the same money - that were just across the promenade from the beach – there you had the benefit of a large pool and dedicated sun loungers and brollies – and many had specific areas on the beach where you could sunbathe in comfort with service – not exclusive but would have met my needs – sorry - thank you

We booked the Balinese cooking class and it was amazing! Started off with a tour of the local market to pick fresh ingredients, then spent the morning under the guidance of head chef Gusti to prepare a 5-course meal for 2. An unforgettable experience-the food was nothing short of spectacular! Highly recommended, an excellent experience and modestly priced for this sensational location.

Amazing value, food is out of this world and the villa was beautiful. The spa treatments were better than any I have had in the UK. Staff were so kind, and attentive, there was nothing that was too much trouble. They organised a driver to take us around Bali for the day at a really reasonable price and even called us when we slept in one day, to make sure we didn’t miss breakfast. You made our honeymoon perfect. Thank you ❤️

Our one bedroom pool villa was perfect for our ten day stay in Sanur. The rooms are well designed and the outdoor area is fantastic. A large pool with a covered area to sit, with table and chairs and a day bed. A good sized fridge and a separate hot and cold filtered water unit, which was so handy. The rooms are serviced twice a day, including a turn down service at night. The included a la carte breakfasts were amazing, with so many options to choose from. The restaurant itself is set in the beautiful gardens, and is manned by incredibly friendly, attentive and accommodating staff. We can’t wait to return!
