Official Description

This beachfront eco-chic bohemian hotel places its guests just meters away from the sandy strip and is the perfect place for a sun-soaked vacation in heart of Playa del Carmen since 1985. Its guests can reach the center of the resort, the restaurants, bars, pubs, shopping outlets and the tourist sites on La Quinta Avenida within a 05-minute walk. The concept of the venue is to provide the perfect conditions for relaxing and romance, so there are no TVs, phones or radios in the rooms. But to compensate for that there are large comfortable beds and private terraces with hammocks, where one can spend the warm afternoons with a good book in hand and a chilled cocktail by his side. If some extra pampering is needed the onsite spa center can provide a number of treatments and massages, which will surely nourish both the body and the mind. WiFi access is provided in the lobby, each guest´s room and the conference place. The property is part of Top 20 Travel & Leisure 2021 and Condenast Travel 2021. LGBT+ friendly and Small dogs/cats allowed on request with extra charge. Excellent place for groups and weddings. Good first impression

We loved the authentic feel of the resort. The staff was friendly and very intuitive (after one day Manny knew or room number and preferences at breakfast. We felt very safe and were able to fully relax. We were bummed about the mass amounts of seaweed on the beach but it's an annual event this time of year. The tractor 🚜 tried to keep our beach clean. Down past three beach at the resort were piles of seaweed which were very smelly.👃🏼 The activities team, Josue and Julieta were excellent! Josue's personality is perfect for his position. He makes everyone feel loved and special.🕺🏼🌊 They had activities throughout each day. Marteen (scuba dive instructor) of Dive Riviera Maya treated my husband and I like we were his only priority. Marteen was incredible and made my husband feel safe and comfortable as he learned in the pool and then ventured into the ocean. Our only complaint was the noise level (music) on the road and public beach which was next to our unit (22). We were also disappointed in the surf and turf dinner but the Mayan show was very entertaining. The pool menu's drinks and food were very yummy. We tried a different restaurant every night as there were literally 40 within walking distance. Each know we tried blew us away with the creativity, presentation and flavors! Wow! Every ethnicity seemed to be represented in the restaurant options. We plan to go back, but just in a different unit and a different time of three year.

Stunning resort with fabulous staff and delicious food.

What a gorgeous resort. The staff are incredible - so friendly and helpful. The setting is beautiful, so well designed and considered. I couldn't stop taking photos! The various pools offer different vibes so you can switch things up depending on your mood. The food is also delicious and the kids appreciated the pool tables and giant chess board. The beds are really comfy too so we slept well.

The best resort we ever been to. Extremely polite staff . All the food were 10/10 . The staff tried their best and honestly they were the best. Lovely resort / Great staff

My wife and I spent our 36th anniversary at the Mahekal Resort and had a wonderful experience. We had an ocean view palapa maybe 15 feet away from the beach … so we could hear the ocean at night.  (Would recommend the ocean view over the ocean front as the public beach is pretty busy.) Resort was extremely safe and was in a great location. Short walk to shops and restaurants. If you want to venture, the desk will arrange a taxi and give a good estimate on the fare. Food was very good and our interaction with the staff was a highlight. We feel as if we got to know several of the food servers personally. Roberto and Sofia shared stories and information about Playa Del Carmen and gave us several good tips and recommendations. We also shared pictures and chatted about our lives and families.
