Makunudu Island Resort

My first time at Makunudu Island Resort and I must say… it was such a refreshing experience. If you’re looking for a true Maldivian feel rather than ultra-luxury, this is exactly the kind of island you’ll fall in love with. Makunudu has a very local, authentic vibe — simple, peaceful, and beautifully untouched. It’s a completely barefoot island, small in size, which makes it feel intimate and relaxed from the moment you arrive. The all-inclusive package has a limited selection of drinks, but honestly, it’s fair for the price you pay and doesn’t take away from the overall experience. You come here for the atmosphere, the nature, and the calm… and it delivers perfectly. A special mention to some amazing people who made the stay even more memorable: Habib at the main bar — an absolute star, always welcoming with a smile and great energy. Sajib, who took such great care of the room — everything was always spotless and comfortable. And Milon from the main restaurant — attentive, kind, and always making sure everything was just right. Makunudu is not about over-the-top luxury, it’s about simplicity, authenticity, and genuine hospitality… and that’s exactly why I would come back 🤍🌴

We spent several days here as a family with two children (7 and 2 years old), and it was an unforgettable experience. The island and the hotel are wonderful: white sandy beaches with turquoise water, spotless bungalows with every amenity you could need, and friendly staff (special greetings to Anwar in the restaurant). Only the Wifi is poor (if you need it, go to the Dive Center). What truly made this trip extraordinary, however, was the underwater world around Makunudu. While some of us spent hours snorkeling around the house reef and on boat excursions, discovering sea turtles, countless colorful tropical fish, reef sharks (completely harmless), manta rays, and stingrays, I decided to complete a PADI Open Water diving certification. I felt extremely well taken care of by Ricardo, Leandro, and the entire dive center team. During my very first dive attempt, I was nervous at the beginning, but I quickly calmed down because Leandro handled the situation with both empathy and professionalism. I also appreciated how thoroughly we practiced all the exercises, and how the instructor even showed me things like how to check the quality of the oxygen in the tank at other dive locations. Once I relaxed into it, diving felt very natural and easy. That gave me a great sense of confidence and safety. Last but not least, some of the reefs were absolutely spectacular, especially the hidden spots that only the Makunudu team seems to know about. Our kids now proudly tell everyone about the marine life they saw with their own eyes in real life! All in all, it was a truly unforgettable vacation. Thank you!
