Pros - Beautiful location and architecture. Clean, spacious comfortable room. Nice pool and safe beachfront. Staff was always cleaning and collecting trash. Decent breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet. The place has potential - more about that later. The place is sufficient if you’re a vacationing family with small children. Standouts: Bellman, Ali and Supervisor, Swen should be commended for their help and dedication. Cons - And there are plenty! Very poorly managed. Not at all expected for a Hilton property. At 4pm check-in, our rooms were not ready. On any topic, ask multiple employees a question and you’ll get different, opposing responses. Even Supervisors had conflicting answers. Very frustrating!! Umbrellas and beach chairs were included however, sitting under a palapa on the beach was an extra charge. No real planned events or entertainment. A DJ, and singers at night by the beach bar which were just OK. We’re not drinkers however, the cocktails and dinner wine we did have, even the tropical staple pina colada, were awful. Obtaining specialty restaurant reservations were nearly impossible. The “restaurant” ambiance (see Italian beach cabana or BBQ picnic tables), food and the service were sub-par. After being ignored by servers at one restaurant , we had to get our own water/drinks at the pool bar. None offered coffee/tea with dessert. Upon our Saturday departure, we wanted to leave tips for the housekeepers and other helpful staff. Neither the gift shop or the front desk would break large bills! I was told they only make change Monday through Friday. Even being told we wanted to leave cash tips for the staff! This place is in desperate need of an identity overhaul and proper management. It really could be a lovely resort.
