I had high hopes of this hotel after staying at the Elix last August. As much as I wanted to love it, it just failed on too many points for me to return. The main issue is with hotel management, it appears to have downgraded many things such as the quality of the fruit juice at bfast, cocktails made with syrup and not consistent strength. Staff not well trained and no attention to detail. For eg. On signature life you are supposed to receive a few extras and a lot of these were omitted. The mini bar hadn’t been refilled and the reception team looked sullen every time I went near. All of the staff were trying their best, but it was hard for them. For eg. the reception lady who showed us our room got lost and we went up and down lifts and stairs before we found the room. On a positive note the rooms were clean. The Salt water pool was freezing, but we like that, The other pool was warm enough for anyone in my opinion. The food generally was of good quality, and service was usually pretty good. We did queue for the main buffet at lunch and dinner a few times, for about 20-30 mins. After dinner there wasn’t anywhere to sit and service to get a drink was limited, unless you trailed around looking for someone to serve you. So we took wine from dinner back to the room on 3 or 4 nights. I have to say this was mainly due to the weather forcing people inside. This won’t be a problem in high season. We didn’t try the Deck Bar for lunch as it was always busy and the feedback was a wait of an hour to be served. Being the only ‘A la carte’ style place to eat this was disappointing. The hotel is so beautiful but just isn’t operating as a 5 star at the moment.
