We just returned from Marmaris Bay Resort which was the most fantastic, relaxing and memorable holiday we have ever experienced. Due to our flight being very late, we arrived in the hotel past midnight, but we were welcomed with a warm smile of the receptionist on duty, and despite the late hour we were even offered a dinner in the main buffet restaurant. We were then taken in a buggy to our Family Room which consisted of two separate bedrooms connected with each other, but containing separate balcony entrances and separate bathrooms ensuring privacy. We were advised that the minibar is free to use and refilled daily and that due to our room being located on a steep hill, they recommend calling reception for a buggy service. We ended up using the buggy service everyday as trekking up the hill in 30*C can be very challenging, but also because the company of our favourite driver, Azad, was always pleasant and hilariously positive due to his cheerful personality. The first impression of the rooms was the impeccable cleanliness, how spacious both rooms were, the beds with beautiful flower arrangements all over them and the stunning view of the bay and nearby yacht marina which lights up during the night. In the morning we also noticed that the entire hotel is surrounded by forest and that the resort is beautifully incorporated into the nature surrounding it, with trees going through the celling of pool bar and greenery being present throughout due to which it’s a heaven not only for travellers but also for local squirrels, owls, small colourful birds and cats which are free to roam the hotel grounds but never bother customers leaving you the choice of coming up to them for a fluffy cuddle if you’d like. The location of the resort is ideal for customers looking for relaxation as it’s far away from hustle and bustle of Marmaris town, but it’s still close enough to get to all the attractions, sightseeing and bazaars in the main town across the bay accessible in around 20 minutes by taxis (€15 one way) which reception will happily preorder for you and my preferred way of travelling - water taxi (€15pp both ways) which departs from the hotel’ś mini marina and if you’re lucky like us, can encounter dolphins swimming around it during the trip. All the forms of transportation are cash only which isn’t a problem as they accept euros, dollars, pound sterling and Turkish lira with fair exchange rates. The resort offers a large range of food sections scattered throughout the hotel with the main restaurant and the a’la carte restaurants being located above the reception offering the view of the entire bay. The available meals consist of main buffet breakfast (7-10:30), pancake bar and beach snack bar (12-17), buffet lunch (12:30-14), buffet dinner and desert (19-21) and late snacks in buffet (23:30-01:30). In addition to those you are also entitled to one a’la carte restaurant visit per stay with a choice of Italian, Turkish or seafood restaurants. The choice and quality of all above meals were a positive surprise as there is something for everybody there and everything is absolutely delicious. There are live cooking shows in the main restaurant as well, one of which was live sushi making which was both interesting to see and very tasty to consume afterwards. If you enjoy cocktails you’ll find yourself spoiled for choice with 4 bars scattered throughout the hotel offering a wide range of both alcoholic and soft drinks, but if you fancy something that’s not on the menu, the fantastic bar staff will happily make a drink tailored to your request as well. There is a range of activities available throughout the hotel with daytime entertainment and sports such as darts, Zumba, beach games, pool activities and most importantly archery which we tried to participate in everyday. I’d like to give Naz and Efe who run the archery sessions a huge shoutout for their professionalism, positive attitude and friendliness as they made everyone feel welcome and ensured we all learnt something as well as had fun regardless for the level of our archery skill which was close to zero to begin with. The evening entertainment was simply jaw-dropping with acrobatic shows, live music, Colombian dance performances and DJ music accompanied by various performances. The hotel also offers a range of paid activities such as water sports of which we picked being sat on a massive inflatable sofa which is pulled by the speedboat which was both terrifying and extremely fun, as well as on-site spa where we chose a package containing Turkish bath, coffee scrub and tanning oil massage, and the beautician/hairdresser/barber which we had no need for but heard good reviews from other customers. There is a range of shops available on-site as well, with a small convenience shop, clothing boutiques, perfume shop and our absolute favourite - local produce shop which sells homemade halva, Turkish delights, local tea blends and honeys which are all totally mouthwatering. All in all, this is simply the best resort I have ever stayed in. Here you will feel happy, relaxed and thanks to the most amazing staff and service, you’ll soon feel like you’re at home surrounded by friends and family even if you’re travelling solo. The latter was especially true thanks to one member of staff who deserves a special shoutout as he went above and beyond, showed genuine interest, stayed both professional and friendly throughout our entire stay and met our needs before we even knew we had them (after my terrifying speed boat experience which he saw, I had a mojito waiting for me at the table before I even came to the bar area type of service) - huge huge shoutout to Necati for being one of the best people I ever met. Thank you for making our summer time stay extra special 😊 Top tip for hotel: Advise the owners of the perfume shop, leather shop and spa to not bother people relaxing on the beach and by the pool and just leave leaflets throughout the hotel instead as it can be very frustrating to have to tell them “no” all the time.
