Positives: overall positive interactions with staff at the resort and decent pools Negatives: predatory time share presentation, lost power on one evening and no hot water on the other (so fun after a hot day in the Florida sun), the view was a construction site, hidden parking fees A simple recommendation - strongly consider staying elsewhere. The property has maintenance issues, you'll probably have a view of a construction site, and the timeshare folks do not stop hounding you. The time share presentation is a high-pressure sales pitch with "gifts" that don't work like the $50 debit card that they provided that wouldn't swipe. I was told by the front office that if I wanted to use it off property that I could contact the number on the back of the card but that there was nothing they could do ... how's that for customer service! That was tough but the pièce de résistance came in the form of the “closer” aka manager Sam Estelle. When I said multiple times that I would need to speak with my CPA to run the numbers his response was a snarky “Do you ask your CPA for permission to go on vacation, too?” After 2 hours of politely engaging and my “no” being disregarded for the past 30 minutes I was done. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with his comment as it implied that I, as a 38yo female physician who owns her own practice, would need to ask permission he proceeded to be dismissive and defensive. He doubled down saying he was shocked I would take offense because he always asks that question. He then gave a disingenuous apology and stood up which my partner who is also a female found intimidating and tripled down on how it’s not an inappropriate question. I had to explain that as the customer it matters if I found the question offensive and to respect my decision to decline the offers. I must wonder if we were men if we would have been treated differently. To round it out as he walked away, he began to disparage me to the sales associate. The lack of professionalism and decorum was truly breathtaking. There’s a reason why timeshares are viewed as predatory I just had higher hopes for Marriott. I've been a loyal Marriott platinum elite member for years but between this and the point devaluation it’s clear that they do not value their customers. I will be spending my time and money elsewhere - probably Hyatt or Hilton. I've informed Marriott HR, the resort and the MVC about this but have yet to get a response. An apology is free but even that is too much it seems. TLDR: If you want inconsistent access to power/hot water, a gorgeous view of dirt construction sites, and an aggressive/offensive time share presentation then this is the place for you!
