Arrived via sea plane, allocated beach villa 193 which is on sunrise side, its the furthest beach villa so the walk up and down many times a day can be tiring. The room is dated but all you need, outside bathroom could do with upgrading as very tired. Walk out and ocean in front of you just a shame full of coral so can't get in. Food good, always something to have and the chefs are very friendly. Our waiter hasem was excellent, knew our drinks order after day 1, always had a laugh with him and had table decorated for my husbands birthday. Drinks also good but if you want black Russian its $14 which is just for tia Maria as vodka and coke free so they don't sell many cocktails. In vilu bar Asmita the bar lady was very nice, helpful always made us feel welcome and the barman Ismail who we always talked to, had laughs, he always made sure we had drinks, he is a great guy an asset to the place. The guys round the pool are also very good and the pool man getting the cushions and towels (although the towels are holy, freyed, so I always asked for 2). After day 3 the toilets in vilu bar were ripped out and they started refurbishing where the pool table and dart board area was, this was fine but to use toilet they expected you to walk all the way over to water sports centre which is quite a walk, so they said use the diving place toilet, off I went and nothing was lit up or sign posted where toilet was, I saw a wooden slat step and stepped up which I thought led onto the mat but it didn't it was a big dip which I presume they wash flippers, I fell over severely grazing my knee and arms and just kept my face from hitting the tiled floor. I got up and eventually found the toilet, walked back over the jetty to the bar and showed my husband. We decided next morning to tell reception, not to complain but to make sure its lit up with a sign showing where toilet was, they didn't really seem bothered, I tried to say if someone older than me fell like I did they might not be so lucky. That evening still no lighting or signs. The refurbishment was still going on when we left, think putting the toilets back in asap would have been a priority but seems not. The restaurant where you pay to go was always empty I think due to mo toilets nearby. The pool was lovely but the water in front of the pool was always seaweed or coral but walk along to the overwater villas and it was beautiful clear water nice swing and not deep. We enquired about upgrading to a water villa for 11 night and was quoted $370 per night, if I had booked this at home would have cost me £400 for the whole 14 nights. So we said surely that can't be right price and was told yes so would have cost us over £4000 to upgrade so if you want to do it, then book it before arriving, when you book your holiday. Evening entertainment is virtually nothing, 1 night Asian dancers for 30 mins, karaoke or the dj dance night which was the best. Met loads of lovely people here and the staff are amazing, its small island which is nice. We would return if stayed in water villa as they look much better inside and they are over the lovely clear blue Indian Ocean. We had a great time and didn't want to leave, this place could be amazing if tweaked a little bit. We recommend going for the price point.
