Great place for a long term stay, but needs more attention to detail.

Booked initially for a month, as we’re currently between permanent rentals. We chose the property as we live in Dubai, and had previously stayed in a short term let a two minute walk away, however we didn’t want to rebook as their customer… Show more service was abysmal. The location was perfect for us, as the hotel has ground level and underground parking, which is convenient as my husband and I both drive. It’s also quick access to 311 and Umm sequiem, which is a quick 10 minute drive to work. We booked a one bedroom superior apartment, which had everything we needed. A kitchen with fridge freezer, integrated microwave, cooker hob, kettle, toaster, washing machine, pots, pans, crockery and cutlery. The bell hop who showed us to our room, let us know that if we needed any additional kitchen items, to let reception know. The apartment itself was more than adequate for our needs. The living area had a two seater sofa bed plus four throw cushions, an armchair and pouf. There was also a sizeable coffee table and flatscreen tv with full length storage cabinet underneath which was great for additional surface space. There was also a dining table for four and floor lamp, which unfortunately did not work. The kitchen was a good size and was square shaped with a peninsula counter. There were four bottles of water which were replenished daily, and plenty of tea and coffee sachets which we didn’t use as we had our own. There was also a powder bathroom which was an unexpected but welcome surprise. The bedroom was a good size, with a king size bed, four pillows plus three throw cushions, another flat screen tv with mirroring capacity, and bedside tables with lamps and plug sockets on both sides of the bed, and an additional pouf at the desk under the tv. Just outside the en-suite bathroom was a small area with wardrobes on either side which housed a safe, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, two pairs of slippers and weighing scales. I’m assuming the battery was dead in the scales as it didn’t switch on. There was also a Quran and prayer mat which is of course standard in the UAE. The bathroom itself was quite small, but adequate enough. We would have preferred a large walk in shower rather than a shower over bath, as we’re not bath people, but that’s just a personal preference. The bathroom was clean enough, and was stocked with the usual amenities - toothbrush, toothpaste, shower cap, bath towels for two and floor mat, however there didn’t appear to be any flannels. Full size shampoo, shower gel and hand lotion bottles were also provided. Both the bedroom and living room had full sized windows, with the door to the balcony off the living room. Unfortunately there was no balcony furniture. so we were unable to sit outside. We did kindly request a dryer rack for clothes after checking in, and a member of staff swiftly brought one up. All of the members of staff, especially the hardworking cleaners we encountered during our stay were friendly, smiley and incredibly courteous. We did not require the apartment to be fully cleaned everyday, just the kitchen bin emptied once a day, and water replenishment. I prefer to use my own bedsheets and towels during long term hotel stays, as industrial detergent used in hotels irritates my skin, so we never needed a change of towels or bedsheets as I washed and cleaned my own. A full vacuum and mop once or twice a week along with a bathroom clean and toilet roll replenishment was more than adequate. We decided to extend for an additional week, which we did by booking on the hotel website. I did ask if it was possible to remain in the same room, as we didn’t want to have to pack and then unpack again just for one week. The lovely lady on reception said that was fine, and we just had to go down to update the room key card and pay, as the hotel website does not charge your card at the time of reservation, only on check in. Any request to reception was always handled courteously and efficiently. We needed an extra device added to the tv, and that was done swiftly by IT. My only constructive feedback is that there could be more attention to detail in regards to room maintenance. Both sets of curtains in the bedroom and living room were hanging off in the corner. I would assume a previous guest had pulled them too hard, and not reported it to maintenance. It would have been a quick fix with a handyman and a ladder. The kitchen tap was loose and wobbly, and was reported by one of the cleaners. A maintenance man came to tighten it, but he didn’t centre it before he did so, so there was a gap where water could easily drip through when splashing at the sink. The kitchen pedal bin was missing the pedal, so we had to press on a sharp piece of metal instead to open the bin. As previously mentioned, the living room floor lamp did not work - I assume the bulb had blown, and the scales in the wardrobe also did not work. It also looked as though there had previously been a flood in the en-suite bathroom/wardrobe area, as the bottom of the wooden door frame was damaged and warped. Both the curtains and sheer curtains had stains on them, most likely from grubby hands pulling at them over time, so could have done with being taken down for a dry clean. The kitchen and bedroom were superficially clean, but the skirting boards and kick boards, especially in the kitchen needed a thorough deep clean, (I would assume this is done in the down season), as did the cabinet doors and front of the washing machine. The area around the gas hob had bits of food debris. Both sets of tv remote controls were dusty and sticky and I ended up cleaning them myself. The inside of the apartment door also had a piece of the decorative gold metal missing. The toilet in the en-suite bathroom only fully flushed when you held down the button. The drain in the powder bathroom didn’t have the best smell. I reported it to one of the cleaners and was told someone would come back to check, but no one ever did. I ended up putting some bleach down it myself and buying on air freshener. Having a background in high end hospitality, I do tend to notice the smallest things, however I imagine for most people these would be overlooked. None of these issues were a deal breaker, but would hope they would be noticed by staff doing a full room clean. All in all, I would highly recommend the Millennium Montrose for an extended stay, especially if you require kitchen and laundry facilities. For tourists, the location is ideal if you’re renting a car as it’s quick access to 311 and Umm sequiem. For those relying on taxis, it’s 15/20 minutes to the Marina, and 25/30 minutes to downtown if there’s no traffic. The nearest metro would be Mall of the Emirates, which is 10 minutes away with no traffic. We have decided to extend for an additional month, this time booking with hotels.com again, as we would receive two additional reward nights. We have booked the same room type, one bedroom superior apartment, but I would be curious to see what the deluxe apartment is like in comparison, for the price point. Show less

Very great hotel and big rooms with all the supplies needed. We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very clean. Kind and helpful staff. Breakfast was great also. It’s a 20 min drive from the Dubai city center, but rental car or taxi can take you there.
