Mirihi Island Resort

Mirihi is one of those rare places where almost everything simply comes together. The island itself is absolutely beautiful: small, intimate, wonderfully quiet and designed in a way that feels understated rather than overly polished or artificial. But what really makes Mirihi special is the people. There is a genuine warmth throughout the resort, and you truly feel that the team wants to make your stay as perfect as possible. Nothing feels forced or scripted. Whatever we asked for was accommodated with a smile, and the level of personal attention was exceptional. The food deserves a special mention as well. It was outstanding throughout our stay – excellent quality, great variety and consistently one of the highlights of the day. I also loved that Mirihi has retained a sense of authenticity. It doesn't try to impress through unnecessary extravagance. Instead, it is about tranquility, beautiful surroundings, excellent food and genuinely caring service. For us, that combination worked perfectly. There are only a few details I would refine. The small boutique on the island could be much more special. Personally, I would love to see authentic Maldivian craftsmanship there – perhaps even a local artisan creating personalized pieces for guests. Something unique that connects you to the Maldives would feel much more in keeping with Mirihi than generic branded clothing. The sandbags used for coastal protection are another small aesthetic point. Their purpose is completely understandable, but the visible plastic contrasts with an otherwise beautifully natural environment. It would be wonderful if, over time, these could be integrated into a more natural-looking solution, perhaps incorporating materials and vegetation that become part of the landscape. The only part of the experience that genuinely fell somewhat below the standard of the resort was our arrival in Malé. There was initially no clearly identifiable Mirihi representative waiting for us. A gentleman without a sign eventually guided us to the seaplane check-in, where we then waited for the Mirihi representative. Once she arrived, she took very good care of us and escorted us to the Mirihi lounge, but communication regarding the departure time of our seaplane could have been more proactive. A dedicated Mirihi transfer between the airport and seaplane terminal, rather than the shared bus, would also make the arrival experience feel more consistent with the level of service awaiting guests on the island. These are, however, refinements rather than things that diminished our stay. Once on Mirihi, the experience was simply wonderful. Beautiful island, outstanding food, genuine tranquility and, above all, an exceptional team of people who clearly care about their guests. We left with fantastic memories – and that is ultimately the best compliment I can give a hotel. Absolutely recommended.

## **An unforgettable holiday – Mirihi is exceptional because of its people** We have just returned from an absolutely wonderful holiday at Mirihi, and it is difficult to put into words how special this experience was for our family. Of course, Mirihi itself is beautiful. But what truly sets this resort apart is the team. Every single person we met was genuinely friendly, attentive and committed to making our stay perfect. We would honestly have to mention every employee by name, because everyone contributed in some way. Unfortunately, that would probably make this review far too long. However, there are a few people we would particularly like to thank. First and foremost, **Laafhan from Guest Relations** deserves a very special mention. We have never met anyone who takes care of guests with such dedication. He was always available, kept us informed and made sure that everything was taken care of. This became especially clear during our difficult departure, when the seaplanes were unable to operate as planned because of the weather. The situation was completely beyond the resort’s control, but Laafhan continued to support us, kept us updated and did everything possible to help. His professionalism, patience and genuine concern were exceptional. A huge thank you also goes to **Athif, Shaffan and Hussain from the restaurant**. They were always incredibly friendly, attentive and willing to go far beyond what would normally be expected. They made every visit to the restaurant feel personal and welcoming. And then there was the food: simply outstanding. **Wije, Felix and the entire kitchen team** did an amazing job. The quality and variety were excellent every single day. During our entire stay, there was genuinely not one day on which anything felt missing or disappointing. The food was consistently fantastic. Diving was another major reason why this holiday was so special for us. A particularly warm thank you goes to **Shuhrab and Samer from the dive centre**. To be completely honest, Shuhrab was one of the main reasons we changed our original plans and booked Mirihi after he moved to the dive centre there. 😂 My son Max and I completed our Advanced Open Water Diver course with him, and it was an absolutely first-class experience. Shuhrab is not only an excellent instructor, but also someone who creates confidence, enthusiasm and unforgettable memories underwater. Samer was equally welcoming and professional, and the entire dive centre made us feel completely comfortable. We also want to thank **Kirsten, the marine biologist**, who made our stay much more than just a beach and diving holiday. She invited Max and me to participate in coral measurements and coral maintenance, giving us a fascinating insight into the important conservation work being carried out around the island. Her different presentations every Monday evening were informative, engaging and clearly showed how passionate she is about the marine environment. Finally, we must mention our wonderful **housekeeping attendant**, even though we unfortunately do not know his name. Throughout the holiday, we somehow became involved in an ongoing battle of increasingly creative towel figures. 😂 Every new creation made us laugh and immediately made us think about how we could respond. These small, personal moments are exactly what turn a very good holiday into an unforgettable one. We hope the hotel can identify him and pass on our thanks. Even though our departure became complicated because of the weather, this did not change our opinion of Mirihi in the slightest. On the contrary, difficult situations often show the true quality of a hotel and its team. The way everyone remained calm, supportive and professional only confirmed how exceptional this resort is. Mirihi is a beautiful island, but its greatest strength is the people who work there. We arrived as guests and left with countless wonderful memories and the feeling that we were saying goodbye to friends. Thank you to the entire Mirihi team for an unforgettable holiday. We sincerely hope that this was not our last visit.

The care and attention from every single member of the team was truly exceptional. The privacy, warmth, and dedication we experienced throughout our stay were simply impeccable. We would especially like to thank Carmen for such a wonderful welcome, and our buddy Lahfaan, who was always looking after us and making sure everything was perfect. Not only because of its breathtaking beaches, but also because of its privacy, its peaceful atmosphere, and, above all, its incredible people. Now that we're back home, surrounded once again by the rush of everyday life, the city, and the concrete, whenever we think of a truly happy place, our minds immediately travel back to this island. It has become somewhere we will always want to return to, a place where we have left a little piece of our hearts. Thank you to the entire team for making our honeymoon so unforgettable. And one last thing... spending a whole week barefoot is one of life's greatest luxuries!

The resort is what you expect when you think about a Maldivian holiday: white sand, crystal clear water, colourful sunset and reef. V Villas are picture perfect. Service is very good, staff is super friendly and helpful. Food is great. Rooms/villas are big and comfortable. The spa has very good therapists and treatments. Excursions were great and even exploring the reef around the resort while snorkeling will let you see a whole set of marine life. We were very lucky and few days before our arrival we were told that in order to apologize for some renovation works going on we would be offered all excursions for free and it was a very good deal: the renovations in a remote area of the island were not even noisy or disruptive of the resort life..
