Mitsis Faliraki Beach Hotel & Spa

Amazing staff and hotel. Very good quality of food

We recently spent our holiday at Mitsis Faliraki and overall had a very enjoyable stay. There were many things we really appreciated, particularly the staff, the beach setup and the quality and variety of food in the main restaurant. However, there were also several areas where we felt the experience did not quite match the standard we expected from Mitsis, especially after previously staying at Mitsis Selection Alila. We were also surprised by the size of the hotel, as it felt much smaller and more compact than we had expected from the photos. This actually turned out to be a positive for us, as the resort never felt built for masses and everything was within easy reach without having to spend a lot of time walking around. STAFF The personnel in the main restaurant and at the bars were amazing. The staff were extremely kind, friendly, attentive and always smiling, and the service in these areas was consistently very good. There was also a clear sense of teamwork, with staff working together seamlessly. The reception staff and Guest Relations were equally professional and helpful throughout our stay. BEACH The beach setup was another major positive. Beach towels are freely available. We also really appreciated that there were enough sunbeds by the sea. Even when arriving at around 10:00, we could still find somewhere to sit without having to reserve sunbeds extremely early in the morning. FOOD & À LA CARTE RESTAURANTS The quality and variety of meals at the main buffet restaurant was excellent overall, with plenty of choice and food being refilled very frequently. The only area where we were a little disappointed was the seafood selection. For example, during our stay we did not see smoked salmon at breakfast or fresh shrimp at the buffet, both of which we remember being available at Mitsis Selection Alila. Our biggest disappointment was unfortunately the à la carte experience. We visited Sushi & Champagne as well as the Italian restaurant. Communication with the waiters was quite difficult, our drink order was brought incorrectly twice, and we eventually received a completely different dish from the one we had ordered. There were also inconsistencies between what was stated on the menus and what was actually served. More generally, we found the quality of the food in the à la carte restaurants to be below average and noticeably weaker than in the main restaurant. We had booked several à la carte dinners in advance because we remembered them as one of the highlights of our stay at Mitsis Selection Alila two years ago, so this was a particularly big disappointment. In the end, we actually preferred the food in the main buffet restaurant, which consistently offered better quality and variety. GLUTEN-FREE OPTIONS The hotel also catered extremely well for gluten-free guests. I am gluten-free and was introduced to the relevant staff shortly after arrival and shown what options were available to me. The host at the main restaurant remembered me throughout the entire stay and asked at almost every meal whether I needed anything specifically prepared. They can make gluten-free dishes such as pizza and pitas, and gluten-free bread is also available. I felt very well looked after. DRINKS The overall drink quality was okay, although the selection of branded alcohol was not particularly impressive. There was Aperol and some branded spirits were available if specifically requested — for example, we could ask for Beefeater in a gin and tonic — but otherwise drinks were often automatically made with an unbranded alternative. We also found the cognac/brandy selection quite limited, with only the most basic Metaxa available. ENTERTAINMENT & ACTIVITIES The hotel promotes its activities very well on Instagram, but once you are actually at the resort it can be surprisingly difficult to know what is happening and when. There is a programme board near the main bar, but it is relatively hidden. We think putting it somewhere much more visible, for example in front of the main restaurant where almost every guest passes several times a day, would make a big difference. The wine tasting was excellent with an amazing setup, but we would probably never have known about it if we had not seen it on Instagram. From the outside it also looked almost like a private event, and several people stopped while passing by to ask what was happening. We also enjoyed aqua aerobics, particularly the session with George, who was great. However, a microphone would really help, as it was often difficult to hear the instructor from the water. FACILITIES One practical issue that surprised us was the lack of toilets for the number of guests. In the entire beach section by the sea there was only one female and one male toilet. There were also only two women’s toilets by the pool, two near the main bar and two by reception. For a resort of this size, this simply does not feel sufficient. GYM & FITNESS The hotel also has access to a gym located in the wellness centre directly behind the resort. For a hotel gym, we thought it was excellent, with everything needed for both traditional strength training and functional/HYROX-style workouts. The wellness centre also offers group fitness classes, including HYROX and cycling, both of which we tried and really enjoyed. SMOKING One thing we found quite unpleasant was how widespread smoking was throughout the resort. Guests were smoking around the restaurant and bar areas, by the pool, on the beach and around the sunbeds, so as a family of non-smokers it was difficult to avoid cigarette smoke. We would really appreciate having designated smoking areas, which would make the shared spaces much more comfortable for non-smoking guests.

It was all perfect! The hotel, the location, the food, we had a wonderful experience!

We had an amazing 10 days at this hotel! Food - the buffet was good with a great selection and the à la carte restaurants were superb. The chips are like chip shop chips and abroad are probably the best chips I’ve ever had! Beach - was the highlight, the sea was warm and we spent hours in it, if you head right on the beach and walk 20 minutes past all the beach clubs you come to a cove where there’s great snorkelling. Staff - every single one was fab, but the ones that deserve special mention are Olga on reception, Souvan at the buffet, Litsa and Aldi at the beach bar, and Darya on the evening bar who’s service was excellent! She was really friendly as well and worked really hard. Also the housekeeping team on floor 2, our 2 rooms were kept pristine. The staff seemed really happy to serve you and wanted to make your holiday the best it could be. Sunbeds - were really comfortable with thick pads on and despite being August we never had a problem getting beds but we kept to the grass area between the pool and the beach, which was in less demand. Evening entertainment - on the whole very good, especially the Latino night with Pedro. The show was awesome! Rhodes Town - lovely and very vibrant but we got conned at a bar with drinks in the menu being advertised as 12 euros each but when we paid 20 euros a drink was demanded. In fairness the taxi driver who drove us to Rhodes Town warned us of this. Be prepared to queue for a taxi at the end of the night! Lindos - expensive in a taxi 60 euros each trip. There are lovely quaint shops in the narrow traditional Greek village streets and the acropolis is amazing! If I am to make a suggestion to the hotel I would suggest a non-smoking area in the outside drinks area and maybe one or more two day time activities? Also, we paid to keep our room for a late flight but a family we met used the courtesy room to shower and change and said it was far too small and hot. So I would suggest at the price paid a better changing room for guests with a late flight. I’ve been searching for years for a hotel I would be happy to re-visit time and time again and I think Mitsis Faliraki is it! We were so sad on the last day to fly home, but we will stay again in 2027. The photo is from our room.
