Mitsis Norida Beach

Overall this hotel doesn’t have the edge to be classed as 5 Star. It does have all the right components to be 5 Star but a few improvements are needed. Firstly, the food in the buffet restaurant needs addressing. It was only lukewarm most of the time, unless you waited for a freshly cooked omelette in the morning for example, which was then very nice. The food that was meant to be cold, salad, fruit, desserts were plentiful and looked very nice but the flies landing on the food turned my stomach, so unless I could get something from underneath, I didn’t bother. This is an easy issue to solve, they just need lids on the food that can be lifted and then put back down. The staff in that restaurant seemed very stressed most of the time, as it’s a bit chaotic. The restaurants you can book, Asian, Grill and Fish are lovely. Beautiful restaurants and setting overlooking the sea. Unfortunately you can only book them a couple of times during your stay in the evenings. You can also book a couple of times for breakfast and lunch you can just walk in which was good. The staff in those restaurants are very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were quite spacious with a nice balcony and we had a lovely sea and pool view. The shower was a bit strange, over the bath and in the middle of the bath, so the water kept coming out, as the shower screen was only half way along. There are slops and steps to walk up and down constantly, so be prepared, flat shoes are best. I wore my wedges a few times but struggled, so gave up and continued with the flats. You could call for a golf buggy, or wait at the beach for a buggy to take you up but we prefer to do some walking. The choice of pools was good, small relaxing pools, one with jacuzzi beds to lie on and the other activities pool. Lots of things going on in there and nice to watch or join in. Volleyball on the beach too. The entertainment team during the day are mostly Italian and did make things fun most of the time. The entertainment in the evening wasn’t great. A real contrast. A couple of nights it was good, The Drifters, The Fire and Lights show but the other nights were very poor! The staff in the evenings around the bar area were very good and very friendly. Always smiling even when they were very busy. Reception staff also doing their very best to accommodate your needs and give advice on places to visit during your stay. Kardamena has some lovely restaurants and bars. After the first buffet experience we started looking to go elsewhere and the Nama (Asian) along the marina was really nice and a lovely setting. Also, the Avil restaurant in a stunning little courtyard was the best meal we had over the 12 nights holiday. Highly recommended. Around 15 minutes from the hotel and 12 euros there and the same back to Kardamena. Some refurbishment is needed around the activity pool, as the white plastic around the edges are sticking up, which is a trip hazard and it’s got black mold in the grooves. A light was broken on the wall and hanging off, so needs attention. The beach is shingle, so beach shoes will make it more comfortable to walk on. The water is crystal clear and you can see the little fish swimming around easily. Bar on the beach, kebabs and pizza also available down on the beach. As I said, the potential is there for this hotel to be 5 Star but it needs a few tweaks here and there. We did have a nice time overall but it should have been better for the price we paid. There are lots of cats around and most of them are not friendly! My daughter got scratched when taking a photo of some kittens and we had to see the doctor for her to have a Tetanus jab just to be safe, at 160 euros, so beware!

A 5-star hotel within a group of three other Mytis hotels in Kos. The hotel has a main restaurant, three themed restaurants open by appointment only, a crepe shop, and a pizza stand on the beach. The entire hotel is all-inclusive. Contrary to most reviews I read online, I didn't find the room or bathroom small. A downside is the lack of rooms with a shower – only a bathtub- a problem for people with reduced mobility. The reception is where I've always been well-received, with extremely friendly staff. The hotel has everything you need, with staff generally friendly, some a little less so. Some staff only speak English. It only has one saltwater pool – contrary to what I read in the published reviews – most of the pools are freshwater. The saltwater pool is practically in charge of the Italian travel group staying at the hotel, which seems strange. The food is generic, like in hotels in general. I wasn't thrilled, but I must say – the meat is usually overcooked and almost dry, but I can't say there's a lack of quantity. In my opinion, the downsides are the bars, breakfast, and the lack of a more comprehensive all-inclusive option. There's sometimes a short line at the bars, which didn't cause me any problems; it's normal, as there are plenty of guests. However, if you don't drink alcohol and don't want fizzy drinks, you're in trouble. The juices are made from concentrate and aren't good. The hotel makes only two non-alcoholic cocktails—pink lemonade and ginger. Neither is particularly sweet. On the other hand, breakfast is chaotic—mind you, I usually go to the main restaurant for breakfast at 8:00. Since breakfast starts at 4:00 a.m., there were rarely enough bowls or plates—often soup plates. Cloth napkins only arrived later. A few staff members then arrived, which I don't understand. We started at 8:00 a.m., and the staff arrived at 8:30. Very strange—I've never seen it. The hotel offers all-inclusive options, but there are none if you want to order ice cream, a sandwich, or a piece of fruit at the pool or beach bar mid-afternoon. You must walk to the main building if you want ice cream at the beach. If you want a sandwich, they're nowhere to be found. The creperie is a good option, but it only has about 15 tables and takes a while since everything is made fresh, and you can't take it to the beach or pool. Go to the beach if you're at the pool and want pizza. It seems strange that an all-inclusive plan relies more on daytime drinks than food. The cleaning service is good in the rooms, but I always arrive early in the pool area because the beds are reserved as early as 8 a.m., and except for one or two people, no one does anything about it—they're never cleaned. The sheets are left on the decks, and after using the same pool beds for three days, the tissues remained on the floor every day. I don't think this is normal in a 5***** hotel. The beach isn't sand—it's made of small, dusty rocks—I recommend wearing water shoes to avoid injury—and there's a steep drop-off near the water's edge. Unfortunately, the hotel's beach and bathrooms (bathtubs) aren't very suitable for people with reduced mobility.

We had an enjoyable and relaxing stay at Mitsis Norida. Pros: - The hotel has a lovely modern aesthetic and the facilities are great. We prefer the sea over the pool, and this sea was crystal clear and quite lovely. - Staff are welcoming and majority are very very nice - All the restaurants where very nice - We had a bungalow sea view room and it was nice and spacious. From the reviews I’ve read we got lucky that we weren’t in a room on the hill, which I understand could have been a negative. - Gym was alright. A typical hotel gym just outside Cons: - Food at the buffet doesn’t really vary, the quality is good but it’s more or less the same everyday - Only 2 bottles of water in the mini fridge. May not be a problem for others but there was 3 of us and we need more then 2 1.5L bottles. And we had to ask reception everyday for more. - Furniture in the lobby, tables in the restaurant and sun beds appeared dirty which separates the hotel from 4 star and 5 star Other: - location wise, it’s not near Kos. It’s about a 4 kilometre walk away from the near by town Kardamaina - Wasn’t a fight for sun beds at the sea in the morning. We got to the beach at 9/10am and there was plenty to chose from - Sea is pebble. Take sea shoes! (It hurts your feet ALOT) - If your vegan your screwed. I typically avoid animal products as my skin is sensitive to them. But at the hotel there was next to none vegan options - Water sports is expensive (in my opinion) €60 for 15 minutes on the jet ski. €30 for a pedalo with a slide

Not 5* service, poor food/drinks offer, extremely lame animation , unorganised staff, nice but not practical layout . The animation team is so bad that the Italian travel agency decided to hire 5-6 Italian staff that speak only Italian and are there to animate only the Italian people. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn’t speak Italian . The hotel does not deserve 5*. It’s not recommended for anyone who needs step free access. There is no snacks or even ice cream on the beach ( apart from margarita pizza place that works only for couple of hours and there is always a long queue) so you need to go 20 minutes up hill to the main building for snacks . Overpriced hotel in the middle of nowhere. Very disappointing.
