I was unsure as to whether or not I should write a review for the Mitsis Ramira but decided that I didn't want others to be as disappointed as I was with their choice of hotel. My partner & I booked this hotel due to it being advertised as All Inclusive Premium. Perhaps we have been thoroughly spoiled by the previous AI Premium hotel that we stayed at but the Ramira did not deliver. Food - 3/5 The 2 a la carte restaurants were amazing. Good choice for all 3 courses, superb food, well presented & excellent service. Be sure to book as soon as you arrive though - we booked via the app within a few hours of arriving & could only get a table for nights 6 & 7 of our stay. The breakfast & dinner buffet unfortunately lacked choice & what was available was a variation of the same thing every day - fish, grilled veg, potato, pasta. I have stayed in 3* hotels with better quality food & more choice. That being said, the themed nights were good with the Greek night being our favourite - we both said it was the first night that we had actually enjoyed a meal rather than just eating something to fill us up. We only visited the main restaurant for lunch once & was impressed with the choice compared to breakfast & dinner. We chose to eat gyros at the beach bar on the days that we were in - you may have to wait as they are popular but definitely worth it. We didn't visit the creperie but there was always a nice smell & a queue so assume it was popular :) Drink - 3/5 The cocktails were lovely! We worked our way through the menu twice but our favourites were definitely the Negroni & the Negroni Sbagliato. The only premium brands I saw being used were Campari & Aperol. Using local brands in cocktails didn't bother me but the off-brand G&T made with Happy Shopper type tonic was undrinkable. We didn't bother trying any other drinks after that - we stuck to cocktails, Metaxa (only 3*) or beer. Staff & Service - 5/5 This was definitely 5*. All of the staff were friendly, helpful & cheerful &, because table service is available at this hotel, were running around from dawn until dusk. The idea of table service sounds good but, in reality, it again failed to deliver. From what I could tell, there was one person who was responsible for taking & running orders with two staff behind the bar to make the drinks - not fair on the poor waiter/waitress who has to look after 100+ people per area & not great for the table that has to wait 30 minutes to get a drink. If you go up to the bar, you're asked if you have a table &, if the answer is yes, you are politely told to sit down & someone will take your order. Room - 3/5 As one of us is a light sleeper & the other moves about a lot, we had requested a twin room thinking that we would get 2 single beds pushed together (which is what we normally get) however, we got a double bed & the sofa made up. Not a problem if you are travelling with a friend, not really couple friendly. The room was a good size though with lots of storage space. There was a mini-bar that was re-stocked every other day with beer (that was nicer than the AI beer), white wine (not nice at all), water & soft drinks. More water could be requested from reception as needed. The bathroom was also a good size with a shower over the bath. A hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel & body lotion pumps were provided. No other toiletries such as a vanity kit were provided (we ran out of cotton buds) which is un-usual for any hotel let alone one that is supposed to offer a 5* experience. The AC wasn't working when we arrived, which we reported & someone was sent up very quickly to look at it. Unfortunately, it wasn't fixed so we had to report it again the next day but, again, someone was sent up to look at it fairly quickly. Once fixed though it failed to properly cool the room so neither of us slept very well the entire stay. Services - 4/5 There is a Mitsi app which I downloaded before we arrived & you simply select the service that you require under Concierge & then select the hotel you are at. We found this easy to use for the table reservations but it would not accept any requests for the transfer service from the hotel into Kos town. We had to book this via reception & then call the hotel when we wanted to come back (so make sure your mobile plan includes international calls). There is a little shop in the hotel selling essentials which we found to be reasonably priced & there is a luggage room. The hotel also offers late check out which can be booked via the app. Something to be aware of that is not in any way the fault of the hotel is that Kos appears to be mozzy heaven (or hell if you happen to get bitten as many times as I did the first 2 nights). Everybody I saw had multiple bites so make sure you pack the bug spray & the bug plug. The hotel shop has a very good selection of anti-mozzy sprays & plug ins at sensible prices. We sat outside the Sunset Lounge on our first night & I assume this is where they congregate as I came away covered in bites - when we sat outside the main bar, I didn't get bitten. In summary, this hotel failed to deliver the 5* experience it promises. It is not a bad hotel - it is modern, clean, has a lovely private beach with plenty of comfortable beds & parasols & is well placed for visiting Kos Town but, when compared to the 5* AI Premium hotel we stayed in on Rhodes (that cost approx. the same), the Mitsis Ramira falls way, way short. And, finally, I think what really did it for us was when we had a note pushed under the door half way through our stay asking us to come & see Guest Relations when we had a chance. We had been sent an email asking how our stay was going so my partner took the time to provide feedback on our AC issues (as well as the positives) & we thought it was to discuss this. It wasn't though - they just wanted us to sign up to their rewards scheme.
