Mitsis Rodos Village Beach Hotel and Spa

I've seen quite a few negative reviews on this hotel which in my opinion is unwarranted, so felt compelled to write a review from my experience as a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children ages 8 and 4). Overall, we had a fantastic week in this hotel, the staff are so friendly, Armand was a personal favourite, they all work so hard to make your holiday enjoyable and I do feel that people don't see this. We've stayed at two other Mitsis hotels before booking this one (Cretan Village before being complimentary upgraded to Rinela in Crete with a swim up pool) and I have to say, this one has the nicest grounds. It's absolutely beautiful, so clean and the view of the sea from more or less anywhere is spectacular. We booked a bargain last minute deal for the last week in May (UK half term) and stayed in a sea view room which was big enough for a family of 4. Very clean, fantastic shower and comfy beds. The hotel was full, but it never felt that way as it's so big. It's set into a hillside, with the main hotel, main pool and buffet restaurant at the bottom, a mid level with some al la cartes and two pools and at the top, there's a park, splash park, Crepe van and also where the mini disco/evening entertainment is. There are lifts everywhere, there's complimentary golf buggys that will take you up and down so you don't have to do much walking unless you want to. The pools are lovely, all fresh water (a big thing for my children who hate salt water!) very clean and the splash park is fantastic. My children loved the freedom of going down the slides and splashing about on their own whilst we watched from the sunbeds. I don't think i've stayed in a hotel with my children where i've not felt the need to go in with them to make sure they're safe, so this was a nice treat! Even though the hotel was full, there was never really an issue with sunbeds and towels in my opinion. There was always a pool that had at least a couple of beds free around 10am and there were loads after lunch too when people left for the day. It did seem more mindful compared to other hotels, that if you weren't using the sunbeds, you'd take your towel off so someone else could use them. We moved around the pools quite a bit and someone always offered us their unused beds which was a nice change from other hotels. As we'd stayed in other Mitsis hotels, we knew the deal with the Al la Cartes and booked these before we arrived. I know other people staying around the same time struggled to book these and weren't very happy with the buffet restaurant each night which is a shame. The Greek was my personal favourite, we got a mixture of starters to try, including Octopus and Lamb - definitely do this. The Mexican was good too. The evening entertainment was good, the magician was by far the best. The mini disco was the highlight for my children each night, my daughter is still singing the songs weeks later! This is by the Crepe van which also has a bar and around 9:30pm, its very busy and the queue gets quite big. I've heard that this is the first season with the Crepe van being up there and not sure it works in my opinion. Not a lot the staff in the van can do, especially with people ordering 4/6 cocktails at a time, but people were getting annoyed with the amount of time they'd had to wait and taking it out on them which wasn't fair. It's quite a walk to the next bar which is back in the main part of the hotel, as the bar by the pool part way down the hill closes around 6pm, It would be great if this stayed open to alleviate the queues slightly as it's not too far to walk! Or pre-making the cocktails might speed things up a bit too. The Beach was a work in progress, I think they're improving it as there was a lot of construction and taped off areas. It's a shared area with Mitsis Rodos Maris and backs onto this hotel. They had bean bags to sit on, always plenty of space, the guys in the drinks van were very efficient that there wasn't much of a queue. Never any pizza though, it goes so fast! It's really rocky near the sea too, so take sea shoes. Outside the hotel there's a row of around 4 souvenir shops, selling lots of inflatables and snacks as well as a taxi rank and 2 sports bars. Great for the last weekend of Premier League football! My husband was very happy. We also had a day out in Lindos which is a 20 minute drive and around 25 euros in a taxi. Definitely worth it, it's beautiful. All in all, we had a fantastic week away and would recommend this hotel as a great place to stay! Happy Holidays!

Currently staying at this hotel and got another week left. Terrible Mitsis and not worth the price we paid… We came here having stayed at the Mitsis in Kos which was amazing. This hotel has fallen short massively. I wouldn’t even call this 3 star. Buffet food is awful, hotel is understaffed and the amenities are all run down and not maintained. The staff are ‘mostly’ miserable and the service is average at best. The room is nice, but we have to call up for beach towels. Management have let this place down! This is no where near 5 star standard. I would never book another Mitsis again thanks to this one.

Arrived at 2am on check in day to find a room filled with ants due to an uncleaned drink spill in the room. Minibar was also empty. Asked to change rooms and was told no as they were fully booked. Offered a massage as compensation. Booking the restaurants was impossible apart from around 9pm if lucky. Timings on website and internal posters are wrong - souvlaki and burger restaurant shut earlier than signposted on website. Evening entertainment claimed to start at 9:30 but starts post 10pm. Consistently understaffed at restaurants mean you spend most of your time trying to get served, on one occasion spent 30 minutes before brought menu’s. Wine served often warm. Bars also often understaffed leading to large queues just to get a drink. This is our second stay at Mitsis against my better judgement and this will now be our last.

I would not recommend booking a stay here. In my experience, Mitsis Rodos Village does not deliver the premium standard it charges for. The hotel looks promising on paper and claims to be "ultra all inclusive", but my stay was affected by poor communication, repeated chasing to get basic room issues fixed, inconsistent housekeeping, disappointing food, and spa facilities being unavailable without being told in advance. I stayed at Mitsis Rodos Village in room 720 and paid extra for a sea view room upgrade. Unfortunately, I feel the upgrade was a waste of money due to the number of issues I experienced and the amount of time I spent trying to get basic problems resolved. During the first part of my stay, the room had several maintenance issues, including damaged plug sockets, faulty external/stairwell lighting, a loose front door handle, and a seized bathroom sink plug. I reported these issues to reception multiple times, including using Google Translate to make sure everything was clearly explained. Despite this, I had to make repeated visits to reception before anything was properly dealt with. On one evening I was told maintenance would come to my room straight away, but nobody attended. The service and follow-up were poor. My initial email complaint was ignored and only acknowledged after I sent a further complaint. For a hotel charging premium prices, this is completely unacceptable. Housekeeping and room service were also below standard. I was told the mini bar would be restocked daily, but this did not happen on four occasions. At one point I ran out of water and had to call reception. There was no apology, and I was made to feel as though the hotel was doing me a favour by providing water. Used towels were also removed on one day and not replaced with clean ones. The restaurant was also disappointing. The buffet felt repetitive, with chicken and pork served most nights with little more than a different sauce. There was very little imagination or variety. The large buffet island also had the same dishes down both sides, which made it look like there was more choice than there actually was, as the dishes were duplicated. The food was often lukewarm or cold, rather than properly hot. The drinks service in the restaurant was poor as well. When waiters took a drinks order, it would either not arrive at all or would arrive as I was finishing my meal. This happened often enough that it became part of the overall poor experience. The spa experience was also very poor. I booked a spa session and massage expecting a relaxing experience. The massage itself was fine, but the rest of the spa visit was a let-down. The indoor pool jets were not working, and I only found this out after getting into the pool and asking how to turn them on. I then tried to use the steam room, only to find it was cold and not working. I should have been told before the booking was accepted that these facilities were unavailable, so I could decide whether to cancel. When I raised the matter with the hotel, I was offered a €150 spa voucher, which I rejected because it did not address the main issue. I did not want to spend more time using facilities I had already found disappointing. I was also offered a late check-out, but this was no use to me as I had an early airport transfer. After returning home, I emailed Mitsis customer services because the hotel itself had not resolved the complaint properly. Unfortunately, customer services simply passed my complaint back to the hotel, despite the hotel already having failed to deal with the issues properly during my stay. This made the complaint process feel pointless and as though nobody within Mitsis was willing to take ownership. Overall, the biggest issue was not just that things went wrong. It was the lack of communication, lack of proper follow-up, and the fact I spent far too much of my holiday chasing basic issues. I paid extra for a better experience and did not feel I received it. I would not return based on this stay.

We stayed at Mitsis Rodos Village for 11 nights as a family of four and booked directly through the Mitsis website based on its description as a “rich ultra all-inclusive 5-star resort.” Having previously stayed at another Mitsis hotel in Crete , we arrived expecting a similar standard. Unfortunately, this hotel fell well short of those expectations and, in our opinion, was much closer to a 3-star experience. The problems started on arrival, with a 30-minute wait to check in despite arriving late in the evening after a full day of travel. When we finally reached our room, it had not been properly cleaned. There was debris on the floor and empty cans left in the outdoor hot tub area from previous guests. Throughout our stay we experienced maintenance issues including a leaking shower, water escaping from behind the shower partition, a large gap around the entrance door that allowed daylight through, and ants entering the room. When we reported the ants, we were simply told that Rhodes has a hot climate, despite the obvious issue being the poorly fitted door. One of the biggest frustrations was the lack of sunbeds. There were nowhere near enough for the number of guests staying at the hotel. We regularly saw people sitting on chairs or directly on the ground because all sunbeds had been taken. On one occasion, towels we had placed on beds before breakfast were removed by staff due to an 8am policy that was not clearly communicated. For the rest of the holiday, we felt forced to leave a family member guarding our sunbeds, which is not how anyone wants to spend a holiday. The hotel’s newly advertised beach concept was another disappointment. It featured heavily in the marketing before our trip, but for most of our stay the area appeared unfinished and largely unavailable. Aside from a few food trucks, there was little evidence of the facilities being promoted. It was only during the final couple of days that work appeared to be progressing, but it was still far from complete. Advertising facilities that are not fully operational is misleading and had a direct impact on the guest experience. Food quality was also underwhelming. The buffet selection was repetitive, with very little variation from day to day. After 11 nights, we found ourselves eating at local restaurants simply to get some variety and enjoy meals of a better standard, despite having paid for an all-inclusive holiday. We had booked Al a carte restaurants well before our stay on the app so had 4 evenings of some variation but the food was nothing to shout about although. We are not fussy eaters at all and ate the food given to us but we expected a much higher quality of food overall given the star rating of the hotel and experience of many other 5 star hotels. Queues were a constant feature of the holiday, whether at reception, bars, restaurants or the creperie. Staffing levels appeared insufficient throughout the resort. On one occasion we queued around 30 minutes at the creperie only to discover there was only one ice cream flavour left and no cones available. We also witnessed guests clearing tables themselves because there were no clean plates available, which reflected the pressure staff were clearly under. What disappointed us most was that concerns raised during the holiday were never properly addressed. We requested to speak with a manager on several occasions regarding issues including the cleanliness of the hot tub water, but despite assurances that someone would contact us, this never happened. Taken individually, some of these issues may seem minor. Combined, however, they created an experience that was entirely inconsistent with the luxury 5-star resort advertised. The hotel simply appears to have more guests than its facilities and staffing levels can comfortably support. A few positives, the views are lovely, a handful of staff went above and beyond. Special mention to those in the entertainment team. The beds were comfy and our suite was quiet. The infinity pool area was nice and relaxing if you could get a sunbed. I also had the best full body massage I’ve ever had in the spa. We chose Mitsis because of the brand’s reputation and our excellent experience at another Mitsis resort. Sadly, Mitsis Rodos Village did not come close to delivering the same standard, and we left feeling that the property had been significantly oversold in its marketing.
