NAU Salgados Palm Village – All Inclusive

Excellent property, outstanding location, great staff. Our family holiday to Algarve was an amazing experience. We loved the pools and proximity to beach. The location was perfect, with stunning views and easy access to Golf Course as well as to the beach. The only minor issue was that we had only 2 days. Overall, we would highly recommend this trip to other families

We have just returned from a golfing trip staying for a week at Salgados. The complex has recently been taken over by Marriott and we felt at times we were being treated as a test run for the staff while they gear up for the new holiday season. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in what is a very classy resort. The facility is excellent as were the staff who were all super friendly and helpful. We were on an all inclusive deal but we understand this will not be part of the hotels offering going forward. Meals in the main restaurant were on a self service buffet. The variety of food was fine but perhaps a little limited in choice due to the lack of guests in that week. I also felt the food was not hot enough, indeed, at times it was cold. We stayed in a three bedroom apartment with two other couples which was ideal. The bedrooms all had their own en-suite bathrooms and there was a common living dining area with kitchen. Our only complaint was the lack of hot water for three days when we were there. Despite complaining to the management the problem hadn’t been resolved by the time we left hence losing a star in my rating. I also found the WiFi signal to be poor. I had to go to the outside corner of our wrap around balcony to pick up a signal. As soon as I stepped inside the apartment the signal disappeared. That needs to be addressed. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the nearest golf course, Salgados, which we played a couple of times. Lots of water hazards and, therefore, lots of lost balls! The hotel is about a 15 minute taxi ride to Albufeira which cost 16 euros. The hotel has 10 pools which were deserted the week we were there. Overall, very happy with our stay and we would return in the future. Hopefully, our group helped Marriott identify the shortcoming to ensure these are improved.

This is a lovely hotel. We found the service always polite and friendly. Arrived too early to have our room so they stored our luggage and sorted us lunch. We found getting to the beach tricky (you need your room key to exit the gate) It is NOT a few metres away as they state- prepare for a twenty-minute walk. There is a small convenience store on route. The beach has a nice cafe and free seating. Back at the hotel, the rooms are a little dark but huge! Lots of storage (great for golfers especially!) Huge balcony but no drying rack provided. Be warned- communal areas between rooms get VERY slippery after rain!!! Rooms cleaned daily, towels changed when you need. Great showers. We agree with other posters here; often the hot food was, in fact, cold. They’ve a good range but clarify your dietary requirements in advance. The booking system for meals was a PAIN. Good range of drinks; bar staff whip up a great cocktail, there’s branded soft drinks, wines, sangria and Super Bock on tap. The kids LOVED the slushees! Annoyingly, having visited Halloween week, we had to ask to be told anything about the kids entertainment and missed a lot due to this. The range of pools is GREAT- how fab to provide little slash pools for toddlers?! But the pool area gets wet and slippery so keep your things on a chair! On the negative side, you ARE in a nature reserve. Budget for Ubers! It cost £5-10 to get to the outlet shopping village or into Albufeira town and just a little more for Zoomarine. I would not hesitate to book with older kids/teens but the remoteness of the hotel wasn’t ideal for toddlers.

Review of a Disappointing First Day at NAU Salgados Palm Village, Albufeira Our first day at NAU Salgados Palm Village has been a major disappointment, to say the least. We are a family of 16, including several children who were excited for a relaxing and fun holiday. Sadly, it’s been anything but. Restaurant Reservations & Dining One of our biggest frustrations has been the dining arrangements. We were told reservations were needed for every meal! As we are such a large group this means 6 bookings three times a day! They had no interest in assisting with this process! When we finally got seated, they wouldn’t even accommodate our group together, forcing us to sit at separate tables. The lack of proper signage on the food (we are vegetarian/ allergies) and staff not knowing themselves has meant we have had to have be cautious and eat very little. Amenities Misleading The photos and information provided about the hotel were incredibly misleading. We expected facilities like a pool room, an arcade, a spa, and an indoor swimming pool, as clearly shown in the promotional materials. None of these were present! This was especially disappointing for the kids, who were eager to swim, but discovered there wasn’t even an indoor pool. Why are they showing photos of amenities they don’t have!!! Apparently it’s because their sister hotel (a 15 minute drive away) has them, at an extra cost! No Common Area or Lobby There is also nowhere to sit indoors. We were surprised to find there’s no proper lobby or communal space inside the hotel where our group could relax together. It’s bizarre that a hotel of this size and standard lacks basic indoor areas to gather. Live Entertainment Not As Expected We were looking forward to concerts and live entertainment, which seemed to be a highlight of the hotel. However, there is no information given On entertainment and it is not of a standard to match a 4star hotel! Shuttle Service Issues Adding to the frustration, there was no clear information provided about the shuttle service. We expected to be able to explore the area more easily, but the hotel failed to provide any guidance on how to access the shuttle. Nightmare Check-In The experience started on the wrong foot with a chaotic and poorly managed check-in process. The staff seemed overwhelmed, and it took far longer than expected to get settled. Overall, our group—especially the kids—are hugely disappointed with the first day here. We will be meeting with the manager tomorrow to discuss these issues, and we’re hoping she can still turn things around and salvage what’s left of our holiday. Right now, this has been far from the experience we were promised and expected. 0 star review from us.
