Ocean Coral Spring

My family and I (a group of 17 - 15 adults/2 children) recently stayed at Ocean Coral Spring Resort to celebrate my mother’s 90th birthday, a very special milestone for us. We were truly looking forward to this experience, which makes it even more disappointing to say that our stay did not meet expectations. I travel often, and this is honestly the first time I have ever felt compelled to leave a negative review about any of my stays. From the moment we arrived, customer service from most of the staff felt unwelcoming and indifferent. Greetings were rarely offered. Staff would often walk past us without acknowledgment, and it frequently felt as though we were bothering them whenever we needed assistance. While some would respond if spoken to, the overall attitude from many employees came across as disengaged and unapproachable. Communication prior to arrival via email was poor, and unfortunately, that same lack of attentiveness continued throughout our stay. We also experienced issues with our room accommodations. I specifically booked an oceanfront room with two beds, as I was traveling with my 90 year old mother and wanted her to be comfortable. I even emailed in advance to confirm this request. However, upon arrival, we were given a room with only one bed and told that no two bed rooms were available. At the same time, my son and his family had requested a king bed but were instead given a double room. This reflected a clear lack of attention to detail. Additionally, the oceanfront view we received was very disappointing. Thankfully, my son and daughter-in-law upgraded us to a swim up room to improve our experience. Unfortunately, that room came with its own issues. The shower would not drain properly, causing water to flood onto the bathroom floor, and one of the sinks was leaking. I submitted a repair request, but was later told the issue could not be addressed because the “Do Not Disturb” sign was on the door something that had never been explained as a limitation. To their credit, maintenance did come later that evening after we returned from an excursion and resolved both the drainage and sink issues. While the exterior of the property is visually appealing, the interior of the rooms clearly needs more attention. We also noticed mildew on the bathroom tiles. Dining was another disappointing aspect. At the Snapper restaurant, our party of 10 arrived around 4:00 PM, noting their closing time was listed as 5:30 PM. The staff member who greeted us made us feel so unwelcome and our server made us feel the same that I actually asked if we should leave. She did say we had plenty of time and her demeanor did change for the better experience. We encountered similar unfriendly service at the beach towel hut. I do want to acknowledge that there were a few staff members who provided excellent service, and I made sure to personally thank them. The team at the lobby bar, in particular, was pleasant and attentive. Unfortunately, based on our overall experience, I would not return to this resort nor recommend it to others.

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! It’s by far the worst resort I’ve ever been to. We had a “privileged” membership on a timeshare, which the resort told us that we had the absolute highest package we could get. And we couldn’t wait to leave that place. We have been trying to get money back since we got home and nobody will help us. We call the resort and they just keep transferring us to a voicemail that is full and then sends us back to the main menu. I tried to post problems on their Facebook page but their “admin” doesn’t approve the posts. lol Here’s a list of some of the problems: - Almost all of the staff that we dealt with were incredibly rude or unhelpful. - 3 out of 4 of our rooms’ luggage was never brought to the room. Around 7:30pm they had to go get it from out front of the resort where it was left since we got there (we checked in and gave them our room numbers and everything, which they tagged) - Room service either didn’t show up or took about an hour & 45 mins to show up. - We had 4 people in our room but the room service app would only let us order for 2 people… then eventually the room service app stopped working completely and nobody seemed to care, they just said to call on the room phone. But if we were trying to get ahead of it before we got back to the room because it takes so long to get there, we were out of luck. - We didn’t see our butler after day 1, and it was hit or miss whether the butler would respond on the messaging app. - One of our showers in our room didn’t work, and maintenance told us that they couldn’t fix it during our stay but that “it’s ok because the other one works” - One room from our party (4 rooms total) didn’t have a faucet on their outdoor hot tub at all. And the resort didn’t seem to care. - There was no hanging chair on our balcony, and after we let the resort know they finally got us one by day 3. - There were cockroaches in all of our rooms. There was one on the lobby bar, and pretty much everywhere around this resort. The Japanese restaurant had a bunch in the bathrooms. - Almost no buildings had working air conditioning. Most buildings were musty and hot. - The kids area (where they offer to watch your kids) is a small dirty area with one inattentive worker (I watched a small child leave on his own and come back 15 mins later and the worker had no idea). We brought our kids to an art class we saw on the app. (It was the only thing out of the sun for the kids to do that morning) There were 3 kids total painting and they didn’t have enough bottle caps (that’s what they were using to put paint in for the kids) so the three kids were arguing and having to share resources to paint their pictures. - A LOT of the chairs around the pool are broken (you’d just be sitting or laying on bars) or disgustingly filthy. IF you could get a pool chair because people put their stuff on them and never take it off. People were allowed to “reserve” seats for an entire week just by clipping their towel to it and never moving it. - 3 of the 4 rooms our party got requested the couch bed be made up (verified at check in), and only one room got it done. One room never got it made for the entire trip. And one of them took until about 10:30pm to get their couch bed made up, but not before the girl that came to the room rolled her eyes at them for asking and walked out without saying anything. The girl eventually came back and the mattresses she ended up bringing were too small so they just overlapped them, with half of one ontop of the other. - They clearly didn’t clean the room well because there was a good amount of rust that was on the floor from them unfolding the couch bed and it stayed there the whole week. - At the buffet there was a stir-fry station and all of the ingredients were below the counter for some reason and the person cooking didn’t want to answer any questions about what was available but if you said something he had during this guessing game he would bare hand grab some stuff and throw it in the pan. - We watched them bring in used plastic cups (with obvious different colored drinks still leftover in some) in stacks and just dump the stack upside down to get rid of the old drinks and without unsticking the cups they just ran the whole stack under running water and then put them on the bar to be reused. - Day 1 we tried to make our reservations for two restaurants during our stay. We spent 3 days fighting with the resort about trying to get reservations to the Italian restaurant. They told us we had reservations, and then told us they moved our reservation to a very late time (without asking)… which we told them didn’t work because we had young kids and the time they moved us to was too late. - The one reservation that seemed to be made on day 1 sounded fine until we got to the resturaunt. The staff fought with us saying they couldn’t honor our reservation because our butler messed up the reservation and didn’t make it for enough people (even though I could read the correct reservation on their clipboard and pointed it out to them about 10 times). They continuously just said the butler didn’t put it in right, which we kept explaining was not our fault and was the fault of the resort and it’s on them to figure out, not us. They weren’t just rude, they were mean about it and got very aggressive. - The pool bar had exposed wood, rust and tiles lined in algae or mold or some type of dark slime. - There was almost no shade around the pool. A lot of the areas that were supposed to be shaded were damaged and/or missing their shades. - The drinks at the pool bar were awful, so we kept trying to ask the servers in the privileged area to get drinks for us, but that always came with them rolling their eyes or just ignoring us (I even tried tipping $40 every time they would finally take our request and that didn’t even help). - The beach was covered in trash on the privileged side, and after hours of being there we finally saw a worker cleaning up, but she only took the reusable plastic cups and left behind the trash all over. - The “privileged” package is supposed to come with top shelf liquor, but no restaurants or pool bars had it. Only the sports bar (they actually ran out), privileged bar, and lobby had it. - There were no lifeguard at the water park. - Water bottles were never available except in the rooms which we had to ask for. - They never picked up our luggage on the last day. Some of us were never contacted for it, and others just had nobody show up. - There was a lot of trash in the lazy river. - The awful smell of sewage by the spa area was horrific, which I can only assume was from stagnant water by the spa area. - Events that were listed on the app such as "Beach party" were cancelled but no notification was made. - There’s a very little amount of tables and chairs in the “boulevard” area where the main entertainment is. So if we wanted to watch the entertainment our whole family would just have to stand there the entire time. - They were always running out of things like ice cream, smores, and other things for the kids. Our kids repeatedly kept getting told there was no more of something and the workers were so rude about it. - One of the people in our party requested distilled water for a CPAP machine. They charged him $15 and gave him an opened gallon bottle of water with a label that looked slapped on that said distilled. - Our last day I ordered breakfast for the kids through room service because no restaurants were open and we were getting picked up at 7:30am (between 6 and 7 am you can only get pastries, fruit, and bread). Room service never showed up. I asked my butler if they could bring it to the lobby so my kids could eat before we left and the butler didn’t answer my message until 9:12am when we were already in the airport.

We traveled as a large group, and our stay at Coral Spring Resort in Jamaica was incredibly disappointing and far from what we expected. Although the resort is advertised as new, the condition of our rooms and some areas of the facilities suggested otherwise. From the moment we arrived, the experience felt disorganized and unwelcoming. We noticed that only some arriving guests were offered welcome drinks, while others like our group were overlooked. The only consistent greetings seemed to come from staff trying to sell upgrades. The rooms were a major concern. My sons room had excessive moisture, leaving their clothes and bedding damp for the entire stay. When we brought this to management’s attention, nothing was resolved. They simply suggested upgrading, while also claiming the resort was fully booked. My grandmother’s room overlooked a swamp, and when we requested a change, we were again told the property was fully booked , yet my family were suggested to pay and upgrade to a swimup room. Unfortunately, that room also had its own issues, including a clogged shower that flooded and a leaking sink, both of which took hours to fix. BTW, another guest room a few doors down also flooded and had to leave the resort. Another family member in a similar room lost power entirely, requiring an electrician to replace the fixture. We tried to arrange a birthday dinner for my grandma and was told we had to pay $65 PP which we absolutely did not pay. We eventually gathered in the buffet, which was in a poorly decorated area that we paid for. It was so tasteless and disrespectful for a woman turning 90. The decoration were poorly done. Simply embarrassing. Dining was also underwhelming. Some of the restaurants lacked flavor, and service from certain staff members was unfriendly and inattentive. Despite all of these ongoing issues and inconveniences, we received no meaningful acknowledgment or followup from management. Overall, we are extremely disappointed with our experience and would not recommend this resort.

Our stay was fabulous and Karol at the pool bar gave a 5-star service !
