came here with my lady for my birthday for a week between June 8-15th,2025 based on the high recommendations of a friend and my travel agent who has been to the resort before. They both indicated they have a fantastic time. I was expecting the same experience. I will just say the experience was unique. The journey to the resort was not a long one. Took about 45 mins to get there from the airport. Considering it's located within a gated community in Trelawny it is one of the more secluded resorts amongst the many you come across on the way making it more intimate which is nice. Scenery wise it is beautiful and the resort is nicely laid out. When we arrived at the resort the bell boys and service was good. Kaci helped us out at the front desk. He was very accommodating with the tidbits that he provided to us and was very welcoming. And Alexis she was a pleasure talking to and works with the Privilege Membership team. It didn't take long for us to get to our first swimout suite -3107. It wasn't the biggest of rooms as it was a junior swimout suite but it was nice and the swimout suite was definitely a lifesaver during the whole trip. Waking up in the morning to the sun and being able to just have our section of water to wade into was a so appreciated. The swimout suite is a great option if you are not fond of using the bigger pool with was only steps away from our suite. I was a bit disappointed by the drinks options within the chiller fridge as having been to other resorts the alcohol selection and juice/pop selection was more vast. The mini Bar - Only two beers, four waters and two cokes and an orange biggie(perhaps put in a pineapple biggie as well). The chiller didn't really keep things as cold as expected. The drinks were only marginally cooler than room temperature despite being on the highest setting and no ice machines were immediately available. If we wanted ice we had to order it from room service which we only found out closer to the end of our stay. The first day was good. Weather was great for the whole stay save maybe one or twice where it drizzled and then a bigger rainstorm happened once. The first night was a great experience. The weather was good. We had a great time at the first buffet we went to which was Captain's Market. We had great service there and our very first Rum Punch became the standard for all the rum punches that came after. It was that good. The food selection was also good and very filling. The staff was also accommodating and very friendly. Our first morning was equally good we went for breakfast and by the time we came back our suite was well maintained by the housekeeping service which gave me the impression that this would be the case going forward. Unfortunately it didn't last long. The following day they didn't come until 6pm. When I did inquire why I was told house keeping is between 9am to 5pm. In light of what I experienced in Joia Pariso - Mexico this was definitely a downgrade. One day housekeeping didn't show up at all. That was the day we encountered a problem we never should have had to deal with: COCKROACHES. My lady went to use the bathroom at like 2 am and saw two of them. A baby one and a bigger one. I killed the baby one immediately but the bigger one scurried under the bathroom vanity. I had to wait for sometime for it to come out again when my lady used the bathroom again before I could kill it. This was traumatizing for both of us. The following morning I logged a complain with guest services. I wrote a report and they told me they would move us around 2-3pm since they couldn't immediately guarantee a room change. We didn't get our room switched until about 5-5:30pm when I had to hound guest services after calling and going in person. All of this just to go two doors down. They indicated that they would ensure housekeeping would be more frequent. The next day housekeeping showed they showed up after 6pm. The day before on my birthday they showed up around 2:30-3:30pm. We had to sit on the balcony to await them. Same thing for my birthday. We basically didn't get house keeping done in the morning. At all except for the first morning. On day 5 of my stay once again we encountered a Cockroach in the bathroom. This time I was unable to get it, in time as it went behind an unsealed wooden panel in Unit 3109 which wasn't constructed flush to the tile. Since we were going to be leaving on Sunday we just did our best to make the most of it but it required me making sure the bathroom was clear before she could use it. For privacy purposes a swim out suite is a great choice if you don't like to be amongst the crowd of people but just make sure to bring some Roach repellent or spray if you plan on staying on the ground floor. Food wise overall it was a good experience. The steakhouse was decent as my lady didn't have the New York cut steak she was used to but my meal was good. We had a fun time with Andre cooking for us at the Teppinyaki spot - Sakura Red Snapper's Breakfast was great along side Marlin's. The Captain's Market in my opinion had better options than Martha's Market on the Coral Springs side. I would say Captain's Market and Red Snapper were my favourite spots. We did encounter some bad hostess service when we went to Sugar Cane's as the hostess was rude for no reason at all. After chasing cockroaches it was the last thing I expected. We asked for a booth, passed right by an empty one and she told us no booths were available. If we wanted one we would have to wait. We finally got seated and had to wait almost 5 minutes just to get water. When we finally got our server who was a great help everything else ran smoothly. Thankful for him. He made the rest of the interaction a good one. Entertainment wise it was nice to enjoy the evening singing and bingo and other activities they had. The sports bar was cool. We managed to get a few games of pool in. The ice cream bar on the Coral Springs side was a nice touch. Pool side they did have various activities during the day as well. The disco was how shall is I say it...discoing. The first time we went the DJ was decent but he definitely needs to work on his transitions more. The second time we went, we had a better DJ but he was just content on shelling down the place with 90's dancehall all night. In terms of alcohol and what I expected from the bar, the choices were decent but certainly not what I expected in light of my previous experiences. Some of the liquor that was upgraded to "Premium" or "Privilege" was standard and it was a shame that it wasn't the all inclusive type of options that I had been hyped up to prior to arriving. At the end of our stay we did speak with Mr. Hernandez - Manager Rooms Division who managed to recompensate us for any room charges and provide an upgrade for our next return. That was definitely appreciated. It will be something to consider in light of everything that happened. What I will say is that the resort should have some sort of cockroach detectors and traps in EVERY ROOM PERIOD. Regardless of which floor we are on. Yes I know we are in the Caribbean but there is no reason for a proclaimed 5 star resort to have cockroach infestations. They were even out in the open as one came close to me and my lady as we sat and drank outside the main lobby one evening. That ended our evening very quickly. That brought it down to a 3.5 star for me. Can I say it was a 5 star experience? No. It was not a 5 star experience for me and my lady unfortunately. The cochroaches ruined the experience for me. I will give kind recommendations to Kimola, Natasha, Samantha, Eggy, Mr.Carter for their positive interactions.
