Bad start, hoping for a better experience

Updated**** When we arrived at Ocean Riviera Paradise, our Check in process with Yhara at the resort was great! She offered to upgrade our room to be more spacious for our family of 4, so we agreed. Unfortunately when we got to the upgraded room it wasn’t as great as advertised. The room was located in the Eden building, part of the privilege club, but it was directly in front of the seaweed staging area for the resort and the smell was terrible. The “ocean view” she sold us was obscured by dump trucks and tractors working on moving the seaweed and we were told this would be a daily occurrence from 9-5pm! We went back and asked to be moved to our original room and they agreed. The hotel transfer was also terrible as we waited about 2 hours to get picked up from the airport. I used the transport service offered by the hotel website, it said it was through Sun Excursion but then someone from another company took over at the airport. Absolutely awful start to our vacation.

We organized a graduation trip for 7 kids and 5 adults. Honestly, we were a bit worried, we thought the kids might get bored at some point, or the adults wouldn’t fully enjoy themselves. But wow, were we wrong! The kids had an absolute blast, and I think the parents had just as much fun (maybe even too much) We’d love to thank everyone at the hotel for making our stay unforgettable, but the list would be too long! A special shout-out to the amazing team at La Locanda and the main buffet — they truly went above and beyond to make sure we all had a great time together.

Not a 5 start resort, would not recommend

Ocean Riviera Paradise was disappointing and far from what we had hoped — especially with my wife being pregnant. One of the biggest issues was the lack of access to bottled water. Outside of the small supply in the mini bar, water wasn’t readily available. By the second day, we had to visit Guest Services just to request more. Even then, it didn’t arrive until the following day after another reminder. Room cleaning was also a major concern. For the first two days, our room wasn’t cleaned, and towels or water weren’t restocked. We called the front desk multiple times — including late in the evening just to get clean towels — and still had to go back to Guest Services the next day to get the room cleaned. Even then, water wasn’t replenished until we followed up again. The cleaning staff also didn’t speak English, so direct requests were ineffective. The beach was nearly unusable due to excessive seaweed buildup, and the pool — the only alternative — didn’t seem properly maintained. During our stay, I saw hairballs, limes, and even vomit in the water. One guest got sick near the pool, and it was rinsed into the water instead of cleaned up properly. Another issue was the raccoons. Despite warnings not to feed them, guests did, and the animals were everywhere. They rummaged through trash cans and often gathered near walkways, making it uncomfortable to walk back to our room, especially at night. The room itself was average — clean, but dated and in need of updates. The food overall was hit or miss. I enjoyed the fried whole fish, Route 66 diner, and the BBQ wings from the extra menu. However, my wife became ill after eating shrimp and lobster bisque fettuccine from the Italian restaurant, which was extremely concerning. All in all, our stay involved too many preventable issues and was more stressful than relaxing. We had hoped for a peaceful, enjoyable trip — especially during such an important time — but sadly, we left disappointed. June 15-21, 2025
