First time but won’t be the last time on Barbados.

First time visitors to this beautiful island and we couldn’t have picked a better place to stay. The view of the ocean from our room, pool area and restaurant is everything you would expect from a place called Oceanblue. The room had everything we needed from extra large bed and more than adequate shower room to outside sitting area and a fantastic view of the pool and ocean. The thing that made the hotel perfect for us was the staff who were polite, helpful and here to make your holiday pleasurable. If I was to pick a down side I would say the hotel is a little isolated from all other tourist attractions but if you are prepared to travel on the ZR or reggae buses then this won’t be a problem.

Glad we found this resort

28 Feb 2026
Thoroughly enjoyed our first stay here in our 2nd floor oceanfront room. We were here for a week and wound up eating several dinners here throughout the week because the food was so good. There were a few occasions when something was unavailable but there were many fine choices to pick from. We ate breakfast there every morning. One thing I must say because I read about this in a previous review. After each meal you are asked by your server to review your bill so there is no mistake or worry about being overcharged for anything. We felt this was a great practice. The front desk staff were friendly and very helpful all week. The pool was very clean and is positioned just alongside the surf and jetty rocks. No worry because there are public beaches to either side of the hotel just a few minutes away. Every server in the restaurant and both the pool bar and restaurant bar were very polite, informative and attentive. A huge shout out goes to O'B, Tre', Janya, Sasha, Kay and Aretha. You folks made us feel comfortable and appreciated. The level of service you provided was outstanding. Our room was just the right size with a nice balcony. You literally hear the ocean crashing against the rocks 24/7 if you open your balcony door. The hotel is minutes from the airport yet you rarely see or hear a plane. Getting around if you don't rent a car and dont want to pay a lot of money for taxis you can catch the #11 bus that costs $1.75 and runs west from the hotel past the most popular beaches/areas going all the way into Bridgetown where many of the "on the water" tours originate from. The bus is used by locals and tourists alike and they play reggae music quite loud but you get where you're going quickly and at a fraction of the the cost of a taxi. Upon arrival at the hotel they go over your reservation and offer you your choice of room housekeeping frequency. We chose every day and without fail we had fresh bath and pool towels daily and a very clean room. They will also help you book tours or transportation and are not at all pushy about pushing activities on you. All in all it was a great experience.

Pictures only tell part of the story, the rest isn’t nearly as attractive.

This property has all of the potential to be excellent if only the new(er) owners would be present long enough to meet guests for feedback. When absent, the staff in particular those attending to the restaurant, would prefer attending to their phones vs addressing guests. They nickel and dime on top of relatively high U.S. pricing for menu items. Such was the case when asking for I.e. cinnamon on oatmeal or butter for pancakes… it required a up-charge of $1.50 U.S….aside from poor customer service it was simply ridiculous. Seldom is there the required inventory to make menu offerings and as such, you’re lucky to be able order 2 of 8 items on the menu for any meal. Other notable shortcomings included a request at the beginning for the amount of preferred housekeeping. We chose every other day however realized after, it was simply a method for cost cutting vs environmental as not even toiletries or towels were checked for possible changing/replacement. Finally, after a four day stay we felt there were better offerings nearby and realize you really aren’t ahead financially staying here when a cab expense is necessary to enable having a decent meal.

Suits those who want seclusion.

A few negatives. The breakfast on Saturdays is slow, as it’s one person serving, and they're more guests waiting on that day. A few people kept staring at their watches. The server Krystal is not pleasant person. She only really smiled to mock me as I spoke. Positives. Great ocean view from the room. The remaining staff were excellent and the young lady at reception does your hotel a justice with her customer service. Do bear in mind that this hotel is a little cut off, in a quieter area, though a bus around the corner can get you to Bridgetown. This suits some people who really want to get away from it all. The Ocean View room is well appointed and clean. I may opt for a more central location next time. Though I did enjoy my time and may consider a return if I just want the quiet.

Tripadvisor Overview

Nestled away on the picturesque southern tip of Barbados, OceanBlue is one of the most beautiful, peaceful and hospitable destinations. Our 23-room property offers the intimacy and privacy of a small boutique hotel with the spaciousness of a resort. Relax around the swimming pool or in our oceanfront Seabreeze Lounge and enjoy the stunning views of the Atlantic as it meets our untamed coastline. Visit our Art Gallery and be inspired by the work of Barbados’ most respected artists. This diverse private collection promotes our cultural heritage. Our art collection began many years ago in the heady days of a burgeoning tourist industry when, in 1981 along with our partners, we built and co-owned the hugely successful, environmental and multi award winning 168 room hotel, Casuarina Beach Club (now Sandals Barbados). For 19 years Casuarina was managed by our mother Sonia “Bonnie” Cole-Wilson until it was sold in 2005. It was during this period that Bonnie began her private art collection. Her vision was to support, promote and through the hotel, give exposure to established and emerging Barbadian artists working in diverse art styles and materials. Bonnie’s support was impactful and appreciated by artists and aesthetes alike. In addition to Bonnie’s role as Managing Director, many of us in the family worked at Casuarina in the capacities of Member of the Board of Directors, Night Manager, Reservations, Activities, Bar and Restaurant, Web Development and Promotions. We worked together to sustain Casuarina’s staggering 90-95% year-round occupancy and healthy 65% average repeat clientele. While staying at Casuarina Beach Club in 1988, Margaret and Adrian Loveridge first discovered The Arawak Inn (now OceanBlue). They were immediately taken by this unique hotel and embarked on purchasing, renovating and rebranding it Peach & Quiet. Margaret and Adrian made Peach & Quiet one of the most successful, intimate and hospitable hotels in Barbados, with a high repeat clientele. Their personal touch and genuine interest in their guests ensured a lasting loyalty. In coming full circle, our family discovered Peach & Quiet, and were witness to Margaret and Adrian’s passion for this property and in 2019 embarked on purchasing, renovating and rebranding it OceanBlue Resort. To add to the string of coincidences, prior to us purchasing Peach & Quiet, Marc and Sally Egan of the award-winning Marco Polo Bar & Grill toured the hotel with Margaret and Adrian but decided not to purchase as they primarily saw themselves as restauranteurs. Our family had the good fortune to meet Marc and Sally and bring them full circle back to operate the bars and restaurant at OceanBlue. Our family have been smitten by the beauty of this unspoiled bit of Barbados, with its unchanging coral coastline. We are privileged to become a part of this property’s history and through OceanBlue, once again contribute to Barbados’ Tourism Industry. Come stay with us!
