Orange Creek Inn Nine Night Stay

31 Mar 2023
We stayed at Orange Creek Inn for nine nights. Pros – nice, helpful and responsive owners and staff, onsite grocery store and laundromat, very clean, AC worked well, hot shower, great value. Cons – Wifi ranged from good to non-existent and varied day by day, TV only had one channel, kitchenette is very small and we only used it to make grilled cheese sandwiches and reheat leftovers, no microwave. We would stay at Orange Creek again if we were staying in the north.

Wonderful Place. Wonderful People

We had an amazing time at the Orange Creek Inn. You will find few more beautiful places anywhere. We had the beach to ourselves most of the time we were there—and it is an amazing beach for swimming, watching nature, boating, and more. The rooms are nice and clean. The rooms have a stove, dishes, and all needed to make some simple meals. There is a nice store at the hotel that is well stocked, including many Bahamian specialties. The service is extremely friendly. There is a laundry as well. There are some good restaurants a short drive away, too. If you want a quite, remote getaway spot, this one is lovely!

Decent enough facilities, amazing location

30 Apr 2022
Orange Creek is an absolutely beautiful place, without a doubt. The overall experience staying there was wonderful, though I'd firmly divide it between the area itself and the facility which I stayed at. The facility was great. Orange Creek inn is a two story building that is almost immediately next to a waterfront (divided only by road). I have to mention the lobby, which is nice, and I enjoyed spending time in it even late at night to watch the darkened seaside, the moths flying outside, or call friends, though the lack of soundproofing in the walls meant I couldn't talk too loud, as the building is fairly small. Some of the views offered from the inn are impeccable, and the driveway entrance is truly amazing, and clearly well maintained: undeniably a reflection of the outstanding service offered here. The innkeeper was an amazing and friendly woman who clearly is extremely proactive and has a strong attention to detail and thoroughness, as she somehow is able to fix issues within just a day or a couple of hours to them being mentioned, and seems to always be seeking ways to improve the facility. On that note, if she sees this review, maybe she'll consider putting more decorations in the hallways, as they are almost frighteningly empty and liminal. In classic family island fashion, there is a store attached to the inn, which has pretty much all of the necessities one would need. The rooms themselves are okay. I didn't have much of an issue with the space, though I'm sure others might. The TV only having one channel when we went there was objectively kind of mediocre, but being able to connect other devices to it made up for it. The fridge and furniture was nice, although a shelf was broken in one of the drawers. The only features of the rooms I seriously have to complain about is the insanely small and restrictive kitchenette, and the bizarre architecture in the bathrooms. The kitchenette worked out okay, but it was so cramped, and there really wasn't even anywhere to really rest food while cooking. As for the bathroom, having a sink hanging almost directly over the toilet seat led to a nasty cut on my leg while getting up from using the toilet. The beds, however, were amazing, and always well maintained, and nothing beats sitting in them, with the lamp adjacent, and listening to the sound of waves nearby. The absolute highlight of Orange Creek is the surrounding area. The adjacent road can make for some nice walks for the not particularly adventurous, and there are plenty of fruit trees (dillies being the highlight) along them, as well as a decent but rather short stretch of sandy beach to walk on before being broken up by rocks. The nearby bay, where docked boats and evidence of a lot of fish-gutting can be rather smelly, but the views at night of a beautiful sunset almost silhouetting . But for the adventurous, such as myself, I'd HIGHLY recommend exploring the channel dividing the land the inn is on from some sort of peninsula, as well as the peninsula itself, which has some incredible, long beach walks (that eventually lead to some sort of other resort or inn or something and a dead end way on the other side) and dense bush that was a rush to explore. I personally recommend getting a bag to hold belongings and carrying it across the channel on a long stick so they don't get wet, noting that the channel itself is quite strong and changes direction sometimes. Swimming in front of the inn is always a thrill, and the constant current keeps the water relatively warm.

Felt like visiting family

I took a five-day trip to Cat Island, it was absolutely beautiful. Staying at Orange Creek Inn felt like visiting family in the best way. It is the perfect place to unplug and enjoy nature. The Cleares were so friendly and inviting. Most definitely a place to revisit. I had an amazing time.
