Bad customer service. Feel cheated

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Padma Resort Ubud. When booking, there was an option to cancel for free within the allowed timeframe or cancel later for a 50% charge. I attempted to use the free cancellation option well within the timeframe, but the hotel did not respond for over 24 hours. By the time they finally declined it, the free cancellation window had passed and I was automatically charged the full amount of approximately $1,600 for a room we never stayed in. We had to leave due to personal reasons, and instead of showing any understanding or flexibility, the resort enforced the full charge without even honoring the reduced cancellation option that was originally offered. It felt very unfair and extremely disappointing for a resort that promotes luxury hospitality. The property itself may be beautiful, but customer service and how a business treats guests when issues arise matters just as much. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling that money mattered more than customer care.
