Comfortable, relaxing, very close to the beach

We came as a family of 4 last month. I was a little as there as a few poor reviews but I needn’t have worried. We stayed in a villa rather than the main hotel but had access to all the hotel’s amenities. The beach is 50m away, 2 large pools and a big restaurant for breakfast. Bit of a walk to the town (maybe 20mins) - use the boardwalk along the beach not the road and it’s a nice stroll.

The Pestana D. João Villas is a hotel overlooking the sandy beach and calm, crystal clear waters of Alvor, Algarve. It is only 10 minutes on foot from the town centre, very close to the Alvor river. Take a dive into one of the 2 outdoor saltwater swimming pools surrounded by lush and peaceful gardens, or relax at the Spa with an indoor swimming pool, Turkish bath and sauna where you can schedule a Magic Spa massage. For your meals, there is 1 restaurant and 3 bars (two of which only open in the summer). If you have kids, the Pestana Kids Club is the perfect place for them to have fun (open from June to September). The Standard Villas feature full kitchens while the Superior Villas have kitchenettes. Both have large living areas and either a terrace or balcony.
