I stayed at the Marriott Resort in Phuket recently and overall it was a great experience with a few things that could be improved. First, the check-in was excellent. Molly at the front desk was amazing. She made the whole process easy and welcoming from the moment I arrived. She was friendly, helpful, and very professional. Her hospitality made a strong first impression and deserves five stars. The room cleaning service was also fantastic. Housekeeping came twice a day and consistently did a great job. The room was always spotless and refreshed without me ever needing to ask for anything. That kind of attention to detail is rare and really appreciated. Maintenance was also responsive and professional. I had a couple of issues with power outlets and USB ports and they were addressed quickly once I brought them up. That said, it seems like the hotel could benefit from a more proactive system for checking rooms. In my previous room the phone stopped working when switched to speaker mode. That is something that should be caught during regular inspections, not left for guests to discover. Now for my biggest concern. The buggy service was extremely limited and disappointing. The resort is large and you really need transportation to move around, especially during heavy rain. However the buggies are old, moldy, and do not protect well from rain. The covers leak and the zippers do not work properly. Despite this I want to recognize Earth, a staff member who really stood out. He went out of his way to help me and even walked with me under an umbrella in the rain. He provided excellent service that helped make up for the poor quality of the buggies. Another issue was the water. The chlorine levels were very strong in the tap water, shower, and pool. It was noticeable and uncomfortable. I understand sanitation is important but the hotel should consider a safer and more balanced alternative to heavy chlorine use. This was my biggest overall disappointment. As for the food, the kitchen and room service staff were great. They remade my sandwich without hesitation after forgetting the avocado which was very kind of them. The flat white was also well done. There are a lot of food options at the hotel but I found most of them a bit underwhelming in flavor and satisfaction. A review of the menu or more balanced portions might improve the overall dining experience. In the end, I still recommend the resort. The location is stunning and the people who work there make a real effort to take care of guests. Molly, Earth, and the housekeeping team all deserve special mention. With a few adjustments especially in transportation, water treatment, and maintenance protocols this could easily be one of the best resorts in Phuket.
