Of all the stays we had in Thailand this was by far the most disappointing. Our room was full of tiny flies, but we didn’t notice them until we were putting the kids to bed so felt there was nothing we could do. There were hundreds of them, all over the ceiling. Too high to reach. Really concerning. We were all bitten overnight. Something I ate or drank in this resort made me very violently ill. The food was okay, on the whole, but either the Tom yam soup or the pad Thai caused significant illness. The interconnecting doors in the family rooms do not work and are dangerous. If your child closes the door (which is not difficult, given the doors don’t stay open) then they are locked in the room next door and you have no way of accessing that room. As others have said, the monkeys are everywhere. It’s harmless, until you’re trying to sleep and they are rampaging around on your tin roof. The resort is long past its best. Inside the rooms is okay actually but the common areas are grim. The algae and damage around the lake is disgusting and the pool beds have the inner foam spewing out. The lights in the pool are hanging off the walls, leaving wires trailing in the water and in one case a sharp spike sticking out of the wall. The pool is ridiculously and needlessly deep. The staff attempt to keep the moneys at bay by firing at them with a slingshot or catapult. My kids found one lying around by the pool when we arrived. The place was deserted, there is zero atmosphere. This is a one-night transit hotel at best - there’s nothing to walk to. Anybody choosing to go there for their holiday would be quite mad. Despite it being deserted we were not allowed to check in until 14:00 on the dot. And as we left, nobody asked how our stay had been.

Jungle vibe with luxury

If you want a jungle type, idyllic setting but still with comfort and luxury, then this is the place. Equidistant to Klong Muang, beautiful beach and party and trip hub, Au Nang. Beautiful pool, chilled vibe with a mixture of ages and backgrounds. Monkeys, elephants, and large lizards are visible daily. We found it really magical. Staff couldn't do enough for us and all reasonably priced.

Lovely scenic place

Group of 6 of us in 3 villas. All clean and comfortable. Nice touch with flip flops to use. Bathroom was great. Outside pool area and bar were great, we only had 2 nights here as a transit stop, so didn't eat on an evening here. The breakfast was ok. The local gang of cheeky monkeys are very inquisitive and will chase you for food! Don't encourage them as they are unpredictable. Nice view of the elephants in the river, from the nearby sanctuary. Staff were friendly. Washing machine on site and 10 baht for some washing powder. 90 baht to wash. Very handy free shuttle to centre of town and beach. We loved it. The scenery from Poonsiri is amazing.

Swarmed by Flies, Saved by the Scenery

Our experience at Poonsiri Resort was really disappointing. The first room we were given was full of flies — so many that we had to request to move. They were all over the room: on the walls, the bed, our belongings — even getting into my suitcase and cup of tea. The second room had fewer, but still far too many. A few bugs might be understandable in a tropical area, but this was excessive and made it really hard to relax. To make things worse, I found a hair in a cookie at breakfast. It was coarse and thick — honestly, it felt more like monkey hair than human, which was incredibly off-putting. The rooms are in desperate need of refurbishment. Our original room had smashed windows, broken lights, and the fan light didn’t work at all. Everything felt run-down and poorly maintained. That said, the only thing that made me hesitate to leave was the beautiful scenery and the monkeys — they brought some much-needed laughs with their cheeky behavior. One even chased us, but thankfully the lovely staff were quick to step in and help us out! The staff were honestly the best part of the stay — friendly, kind, and always doing their best to assist. Unfortunately, their hospitality just couldn’t make up for the overall condition of the place. I wouldn’t return unless some serious improvements are made.

Watch out for the monkeys!😃

Great place Fabulous back drop when sat at the pool. Rooms are great, pool area is comfortable. Washing facilities available. Food is nice but limited choice. Staff are all very friendly & helpful. Excellent happy hour drinks available. Monkeys are everywhere. Beware if you have food around the pool…..they’ll pinch it. They also like to play on the roof of the bungalows! Sounds like thunder when they are rolling around 😂
