Porto Playa Condo Hotel

I feel as though my review will be slightly jaded due to the sargassum situation. The whole area stunk like a landfill of rotten sewage and dog poo. That is not the hotels fault. The security was not ideal- the door was open most of the time and I found the area seedy. The pool closes at 8pm sharp which is a total bummer. The adjacent hotel lets their pool stay open late so we got to hear everyone else have the time of their lives. The fountains were not turned on- the place seemed vacant and rundown. Our master bedroom had no AC. They kept telling us it was working but it was definitely not. I slept on a stiff couch to stay cool. They offered to move half of us to a different room that was hot but AC only in the master- no thank you. I just wanted our whole family to be in a room with working AC as it’s 95° out, but for whatever reason in an empty complex that was not possible. I could tell the guy was annoyed by me. Sorry for wanting basic needs on vacation. The rooms were big and nice- that’s a plus. We ended up leaving there- still paid in full but just couldn’t deal with being hot and smelling sewage. Don’t go in the summer and make sure your AC works. The bakery across the street is not good with rude staff. The connected “spa” across the street charged me $30 (after quoting me $10) for simply painting my 10 yr old daughter’s nails. All in all I fell disappointed and ripped off left and right. To be fair I hadn’t been to Playa in over a decade so all the development and aggressive street haggling really irked me. Time to find a new spot.

Lovely, patient, helpful staff. Good water pressure. AC works well! Water cooler with cool water. Shaded parking. Room darkening curtains. Very spacious. Huge master bath. Clean. We frequently stay at condo in beach areas-the floors were much cleaner than most. The interior courtyard is filled with nice plants and an interesting twisting pool. There is a larger pool on an upper level where it would get more sun and large enough to swim. Little french bakery steps from entrance. You can hear loud club music outside, but not to much inside the condo. The fitness center is next door in a actual stand alone fitness center. You will need to get a entry ticket from the front desk. If you are a runner, I would prefer a morning run by 8:00 on 5th Ave before it is sunny and crowded. Has a fun retro feel. Would defy stay there again. Best yet, they never asked me to write a review!

The two bedroom condo was extremely clean and well equipped with a full kitchen, filtered hot and cold water, coffee maker, etc. It was much bigger than we imagined which was nice and comfortable for a 4 night stay with our two boys. The pool and grounds are well kept and maintained and very beautiful walking to and from your condo through the greenery of the garden. All staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the young security guard that opened the door for us multiple times a day. The condos are in a fantastic location, close to many restaurants and the beach. A quick walk away from everything. The only negative we have is unfortunately a big one for us, which was the lack of quality sleep we had during our stay. We stayed in room 210 which is in the back right corner of the complex. Unfortunately there is a bar/restaurant behind these condos that blasts very loud music and karaoke for a majority of the night. This noise kept us awake for all nights of our stay (even with earplugs). Otherwise, this condo would have been the perfect stay!

This place is right near the action and a beach so location is really good if you want to wander the streets where the restaurants are. The condo was fantastic- really comfortable and clean and it was great to have a bit of space for a few days. The pool is nice & quiet. Feli was our cleaner and it was always spotless and made up early which we loved. Thankyou. We popped down to the sister property (El Taj) which is about 80metres away. The wrist band which gets you entry to this property also works at El Taj which is on the beach - both are lovely properties. We did struggle with the lock which worked on a swipe and twist set up and it took us a few days to master it. No noise from the street to bother us! The bakery across the street did great coffee We didn’t use the gym or take advantage of the restaurant discounts but they are both a nice touch. Great reception staff too

Really convenient accommodation for families in a central location. You have access to gym as well which is good. Clean and spacious apartment. Free drinking water during the stay. Near to beach. Would recommend for stays with families. Easy check in and check out
