Official Description

The hotel is located in the fishing village of Sagres, in the Algarve. This pousada enjoys a superb position on the cliff-top, overlooking Sagres fort and the lighthouse of Cape St. Vincent, the most south-westerly corner of Europe. Faro Airport is about 115 km away. Since its construction in 1960, the pousada has been constantly improved to cater to the increasing number of visitors who want to see this most south-westerly corner of Europe and to learn something of the history of the man who gave his name to it, Infante D. Henrique, Portuguese for Prince Henry, the son of King João I and his English-born queen Philippa Lancaster, who founded a navigation school here early in the 15th century. It has 51 rooms in total, as well as air conditioning, a 24-hour reception and check-out service, a hotel safe, lift access, a café, bar, TV room, restaurant, conference facilities and room service. Internet access and a laundry service are available for a fee. Parking facilities are also available. The hotel also offers two disability-friendly rooms. An en suite bathroom, hairdryer, direct dial telephone, satellite/cable TV, a minibar, washing machine, air conditioning and a safety deposit box are provided in all rooms. Terraces also feature. Guests may take advantage of the outdoor swimming pool, as well as the sun terrace with sun loungers and parasols. The nearby beach is sandy and comes with sun loungers and parasols (both subject to fees). Breakfast, lunch and dinner may be selected from a buffet. Lunch and dinner can be chosen from the set menu or taken à la carte. Special dietary requirements can be catered for.

Breathtaking beauty and luxury with a good price

I would go back to Sagres only for this hotel. The inside decor was stunning and the view was breathtaking. It was also so good value for money that when we walked in, I thought ”is this really the hotel I reserved”? I’m a breakfast person and I can honestly say 5/5 breakfast.

From the minute we got there, the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Located in a small beach town with plenty of restaurants and shops just a few minutes away. Great views of a beautiful land/seascape. Soft sand beach a short walk away.

Disappointed in this hotel

This hotel is a disappointment for several reasons. Outdated , smelly rooms. The bathtub had poor water output. It was difficult getting in and out of the tub/shower. Hairdryer didn’t work. We stayed here on an Odessey trip and we were not pleased with the quality of this stay.

A wonderful experience

From our arrival to departure we were treated as valued guests. All members of staff were very professional and clearly well trained. Our room had a wonderful view of the coast and a balcony for sitting out, weather allowing. We were not quite so lucky in that respect as Portugal is having a spell of unusually high rainfall and storms but it certainly made interesting viewing. The hotel suffered slight damage due to the high winds whilst we were there but again this was handled most professionally and no disruption was felt. We only knew because a member of the waiting team showed us photos which emphasised how unusual an occurrence it was. The food was wonderful, breakfast the best of our trip and the Cataplana we ordered at dinner the first night excellent. The staff throughout the hotel clearly took pride in their work and it showed. It is impossible to single out individual staff members but the restaurant and bar staff must have special mention. They were so smiley and friendly as well as efficient. We were placed in this hotel by default as our original selection was unavailable and were rather apprehensive but had no reason to be. Highly recommend
