Dani at the beach bar was the best!!!

Our waiter, Dani, was excellent all week. He was very attentive, paid attention to little details, and super friendly!

Very nice resort. Quiet. Very clean. Very good food and service. Compact layout. Nice Beach. Safe. Fast and easy check-in. We spent 8 nights at this resort in late February/early March on the AI plan. It is a very nice resort and quiet. No loud drunk groups or weddings. Good security at the hotel and on the beach. We felt very safe the entire time despite that it was immediately following the drug gang related violence in Mexico. We booked the transfers through the resort (van to the ferry, ferry, cab to hotel and return). A little more expensive maybe, but worth it for the convenience. They were all smooth. We made the first ferry going to the island because we did not have to stop to buy tickets in Puerto Juarez. I would recommend that the pick up at the ferry dock on the return trip have a little better identification (sign maybe?). The food was very good. There are five restaurants: Beach club, Sabor, pool snack bar, Brazilian, and Asian. We did not go to the Brazilian or Asian. The menus were on-line (available in their app) or paper (your choice). Service at all of the restaurants was excellent. We never experienced a wait to be seated. The food was well prepared, flavorful, and delivered hot. There were numerous seafood dishes at the restaurants that were very good. The steaks (New York Strip, flank steak, and rib eye) were well prepared and tender. There was a good selection of deserts at the restaurants including ice cream (vanilla, coconut, and chocolate). They were very careful about food allergies. The drinks were also very good. There are three bars: pool, beach club, and outside Sabor. Service at all was also excellent. Sabor has an excellent breakfast buffet with just about anything you could want and lunch ala cart service with an extensive menu. Seating is inside (climate controlled) or outside with shade. There is also ala cart dinner service with a good selection of items. The beach club includes two large palapas for the restaurant, a bar, and nicely spaced palapas on the beach with drink and food service. The breakfast menu has less items than at the Sabor buffet, but still a reasonable selection. It would be nice if French toast was on the menu. The most attractive thing about breakfast at the beach club was the quiet atmosphere right on the beach. The lunch and dinner menus were extensive with good variety. There is also a Friday evening Mexican buffet at the beach club that was very good with tacos (several choices of fillings), steaks and fish grilled to order and a good variety of other dishes. The beach itself is beautiful and very wide. There was no Sargassum. There is unlimited room service. We used it once on the morning that we departed for breakfast. The service was prompt, the food was warm, and they actually included extra items. The room was large and very nice. The bed was comfortable. Room temperature could be controlled by separate thermostats in the living area and bedroom. We had a garden view suite in Building 2, Level 2 (3rd floor). The suite had a separate entry area with a closet to store suit cases, separate bedroom with a large closet and shelves, bathroom, and living area. The room was very clean and the housekeeping service was good. There were a couple of minor glitches when housekeeping did not leave wash clothes and soap/shampoo. The refrigerator was restocked each day and they left plenty of water. The only negative was the extreme level of the “towel game” when we arrived. We go the beach early in the morning (6:15 or so), enjoy the peace and quiet while it gets light, and spend the whole day there other than to go for breakfast and lunch. The first day when we arrived at the beach most of the palapas were “reserved” with towels, books, etc. on the loungers, not one person was present, and many of them did not show up until 10 or 11 o’clock. Each palapa has a sign that says palapas cannot be reserved. Some groups apparently had designated a person to go at 4 am with 8 towels to reserve 4 palapas. The same thing happened on day 2. Then on day 3 there was some incident about reserving palapas. The hotel decided to enforce the no reservations policy. The next day they had security take everything at palapas that were not occupied. I talked to customer service and they said that it was ok to leave to go to breakfast and lunch as long as you were there for most of the day. The next morning, I let security know that we would be there all day but that we would be going to breakfast and lunch. He said that he had noted that we were there early and stayed all day, and that they were ok with that. After that, the towel game stopped and things were much more pleasant. I hope they keep enforcing the policy. The one thing that I would urge the resort to do would be to clearly define what the policy is in the handout that they provide at check-in. Although the service was generally very good, there were a number of staff that went above and beyond. Dani and Antonio at the beach provided extraordinary service and were constantly asking if we needed anything and bringing drinks unsolicited based of what we had previously ordered. Marco at the Beach Club was careful to address food allergies. Waiters Oscar, Raul, and Ricardo at the Beach Club provided outstanding service. We have already made reservations for September.

This is stay number 6. Best beach area and service in all of Isla. Dani beach service is beyond top notch. You will be well taken care of with Dani around. they all work very hard. Jose in the restaurant is hard to beat and he’s such a nice helpful person we just love him.
